Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior

Depois de dar final, hora da análise. Cybarian é um joguinho de ação em plataforma simples e extremamente curto. Seguem os pontos positivos e negativos: + Sistema de combos com timing certo (errar o timing faz errar o golpe); + Gráficos e música de acordo com a proposta retrô; + Boas lutas de boss; + Movimentação responsiva (exceto durante os ataques, que é de propósito) - Extremamente curto (tem apenas 4 fases); - O sistema de cura e coleta de moedas é.... desnecessário. Coletar várias moedinhas para curar um único coração nem faz muito sentido; - O sistema de casino entre as fases é totalmente bugado e incompreensível; - Barato.... mas por ser muito curto, até mesmo na promoção parece caro. Dá para dar final tranquilamente em menos de 1h. No todo é um jogo ok, mas extremamente curto. Por isso NÃO RECOMENDO.

A genuinely great game, in my opinion. But definitely not for everyone, given the lack of in-level checkpoints, and other reviewers' frustration or inability to grasp that executing your attacks and dodging enemies has a very specific rhythym to them. For me, this game's difficulty was right on the money: As long as you play patiently, and learn the various encounters' rhythms, you will generally be able to scrape by - and feel great satisfaction once you beat a level, or find yourself fluently blasting through areas or bosses you once found difficult. Should also note that this game does NOT depend on rote memorization and muscle memory either. There are no un-reactable BS surprises (unless you count the few times enemies burst from the scenery!), and it all comes down to your ability to observe and be deliberate in your actions. Bosses are fantastically designed also, and you can tell the developers put a LOT of care into perfecting their attack hitboxes, and the timing you need to dodge their attacks. Which makes for combat that feels TIGHT, but which is not annoyingly unforgiving either. So... perfect game? Nope. But consider grabbing it on sale, and don't be afraid to refund it if it doesn't click for you within ten minutes.
