Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ “Cursed Bet” is, in short, a tedious slog masquerading as a horror game. What could have been an engaging experience with spine-chilling moments instead turns into a monotonous walkathon, riddled with uninspired gameplay and underwhelming design. The premise is thin at best—your character must navigate through a dimly lit environment, collecting keys to open doors. That’s it. There’s no story to immerse you, no characters to care about, and no real sense of urgency or danger. The game relies on the overused “dark hallways and jump scares” trope but fails to deliver even basic suspense or tension. Gameplay: The gameplay is mind-numbing. You walk... and then you walk some more. Occasionally, you find a key, but rather than feeling a sense of accomplishment, it feels like checking a box on a boring to-do list. The level design is uninspired, with repetitive corridors and rooms that make you feel like you’re in a never-ending maze of mediocrity. Adding insult to injury is the poor pacing. Doors are spaced far enough apart that it feels like the game is intentionally wasting your time. And if you miss a key? Prepare for a frustrating backtrack through the same lifeless areas you’ve already endured. Graphics and Audio: Visually, Cursed Bet looks like it came out a decade ago—and not in a nostalgic way. Low-resolution textures and poor lighting effects make the game look cheap rather than atmospheric. The sound design is equally disappointing, with generic creaks and groans that fail to create a sense of dread. Verdict: Cursed Bet doesn’t feel like a completed game; it feels like a walking simulator gone wrong. There’s little to no payoff for the time you invest, and what’s there is more frustrating than fun. If you’re looking for a horror experience, avoid this game like the plague. Your time and money are better spent elsewhere. Final Score: 1/5 – Cursed indeed.
I thought this wasn't too bad! It did drop framerates a little in the 2nd part. I even turned down the settings and it still didn't make a difference, but it did calm down eventually. It was definitely different from the demo, I remembered those blocks being all over, including in the first part of the playground. The parts when Ebeleen would stab me, I wasn't sure if I died or had to start over, because I'd come back and was able to carry on from where I left off, but it would put me where I put the dolls for their birthday party. Other than that, atmosphere was spooky, dolls in horror games spook me well.. good job with the jumpscares! Here is my playthrough! https://youtu.be/cK-D2FmUfMA
The game is bad, I can't log in or log out and it doesn't work on Steam Deck. Don't buy it.
this game really got me hooked , loved the story , only downside was there was a fair bit of going back and forth but this is only a minor negative , Graphics were really impressive .
