sunset shapes is a tetromino-based 3d puzzler inspired by the excellent .projekt, but with pleasant colors of the fall. or the sunset, I guess, but there are multiple trees and such in the game, so it works either way. you get a bunch of tetris-like shapes and have to position them so they reproduce the shadow on the wall (shoutout to mike oldfield) and the floor. first gripe already: I wish there was a 'skip drop animation' setting, waiting for pieces to land, bump around and finally settle is annoying. and they should be more scattered when the level starts, separating everything to see what's what just adds to the busywork, and once they fell in a way that I couldn't separate them, had to restart the level. shapes often get in the way of each other anyway, you often have to make them connect or fill each other's holes (not as dirty as it sounds), but controls are too clunky and frustrating. left click or tab to select a piece, wasd or arrows to move it around horizontally (arrorws aren't mentioned anywhere), e/q to move up/down, 'r' to rotate, holding right click moves the camera and mouse wheel zooms in/out. movement by default is based on the viewpoint, so after rotating the camera, left will move the same piece in a different direction than before. a toggle got patched in, and while it makes a certain amount of sense to consider directions while facing the wall, for me it's more logical to look at the shadow, as the wall has nothing to do with the puzzle, and based on that I found fixed controls useless. they kinda work from an angled perspective, but rebindable controls would still be necessary and might fix the issue. the alternate keyboard option means w/s is used to move pieces up/down and a/d for left/right, and if you want to move them in the other two directions, you have to rotate the camera first, so it's even worse than the other one. gamepad works too, might be better, can't be much worse, haven't tried it. 50 levels, one unlocked at a time, level numbers and names had to be patched in for level selection. mechanics include heavy blocks that fall down without anything to support them. neat idea but really annoying, even more so because they don't just fall into place if unselected, but bounce off other shapes, land and bounce around a bit more before they can be interacted with again. then there are constantly moving or rotating pieces unless they're currently selected, have to make them stop by blocking their movement with another piece, or time things so they line up properly for the solution. horrible idea, made only worse when both block types are present on a level, or when they're bugged and go through each other (which isn't a bug, apparently, but an intended mechanic somehow). the music is fine, piano-based, calming, the graphics are very basic, but walking along the wall of solved levels is pretty cool, tells a story of a long journey. there are separate volume settings and a windowed mode toggle that produces a resizable window, better than nothing. and you can choose from multiple languages as well. out of curiosity, I unlocked all the levels by editing the save to see every mechanic, but didn't solve everything because controls, physics, some questionable mechanics and bugs soured the experience, it's simply not fun to play.
Sunset Shapes was a very pleasant surprise for me. It's a puzzle game where You have to connect several pieces (sets of blocks) to form a shape where it's shadow will be casted in a mural. All the shadows uncover a simple story about the travels of a maggot and a daisy. The art it's very simple, but it's also very enjoyable. Specially if You imagine yourself walking alongside a mural in the beach. The game play it's very simple. You only have to move and rotate the pieces around, so their shadow fit the demarked zones. The game progression is ok, but i found some levels a bit difficult. Overall, this game provides a enjoyable and soothing experience while listening a relaxing piano music. Recommended.
Cool puzzle game definitely worth the price.
The game provides a very pleasant and relaxing environment capable of keeping you engaged while solving format puzzles.
Great game !! Excellent puzzle !! Beautiful images of the wall !! Good progression !!
Great puzzle game, relaxing soundtrack, totally recommend it! I'm not used to puzzle games but this one really catch my attention. It's different, the environment it's really nice, the story behind it, the music, all of it, nicely done. Loved it and can't wait for the next levels!
BEST GAME EVER FOR A CHEAP PRICE. BUY NOW!!!
Neat idea, but I can not recommend purchase. The camera stops before you can get it into position needed to solve the puzzles. Also, it would be nice to let us know "R" rotates the objects.
The game and the ambiance are perfect for those who want to relax and spend hours playing! I loved it!
Very interesting puzzle! it tells you a story through a pixel art wall by matching the shadows of 3D objects. Great relaxing experience! totally recommended!
