Crypt Custodian

This game is such a weird blend but it's pulled off beautifully. It's a metroidvania, platformer, bullet hell, puzzle game, and silly farcical comedy. Most importantly, the gameplay is a delight--the controls are responsive and everything ranges from fun and easy to moderately tough and [i]almost[/i] frustrating. Exploration is fun, the map is huge and varied, the abilities--and the way they interact with the game world--are interesting (e.g., there's a zone where half the enemies and their attacks phase in or out every time you dash, which allows you to dodge enemies/their attacks by strategically dashing), and the upgrade system is neat (you collect upgrades and have to spend points to activate them, can mix and match them, and, if you buy enough points, you can activate all 32 of them). The platforming is smooth and forgiving (instead of falling into the abyss, if you're close enough--maybe a tiny bit on the edge?--your character 'snaps' onto the target platform. Timed challenges put my limited platforming skills to the test without being truly frustrating. The combat is fun and mostly scales in difficulty when you have more enemies on screen (because you can only take 4 or 5 hits before 'dying'). The bosses are mostly a variety of bullet hell challenges; I'm terrible at bullet hell games, but if I kept reminding myself to focus on dodging everything and worry about attacking after that, I fared reasonably well. The puzzles, possibly with one exception, are relatively straightforward but still fun to complete. The comedy, though, is very special to me. Most (all?) of the characters are some form of delightfully oblivious/dim and completely unaware of and unbothered by it. There aren't really malicious (talking) characters in the game, just silly fools who caused harm through their greed or selfishness. I haven't seen similar humor in other games (except by the same developer) and it's such a joy in Crypt Custodian (and Islets). Don't get this if you're looking for something outrageously difficult or dark and serious. But if you'd like a light, very fun, player-friendly metroidvania/platformer/bullet hell silly farce, this is definitely worth checking out.

탑뷰 메트로베니아 재밌네요 사진첩에서 오른쪽 끝열에서 오른쪽으로 누르면 제일 왼쪽으로 커서 옮겨지는데 반대로는 안되는게 아쉽ㅋㅋ
