Critterland, sizi doğanın güçleriyle karşı karşıya getiren hızlı tempolu bir 2D gerçek zamanlı strateji (RTS) oyunudur. Senaryodaki bulmacaları çözün, atmosferik OST'nin tadını çıkarırken türler arasındaki sinerjiyi keşfedin. Alternatif olarak, kendi ekolojik araştırmanızı korumalı alan modunda gerçekleştirin.
Critterland cons: static screens with little or no change. auto build. you just observe. sucks.
A nice, unique, free game to play and enjoy. For a free game, Critterland provides an interesting, but simple ecosystem management game. You can create animals or plant that can specialize in a few traits. It is also interesting how every animal or plant can interact with each other; plants will compete with each other, and animals (With desired traits) will drive animals out of getting food. There is also various enviroments in which you can play in which you can specialize your species to live in. Of course, being free, the game is awefully simple and shallow. What I said above is true, yet the amount of different types of interactions is few. The game is also becomes very difficult to understand once species start growing in the hundreds (Not helped by the small maps). But like I said above. This game is free, and it looks like it has a lot of potential (This game looks more like someone's project for a more ambitious game). So, it doesn't hurt to try and waste a few minutes on this game.
4/10 it gets boring after an hour and has no point, and is unfair
I played through most of the Critterland campaign. It's really nicely polished for an indie game and very thoughtful. I had a good time. Nice work! The game scratches some of the same itches in my brain as a tower defense game, even though its not exactly that, obviously. I think it could have been even better if there was more of a visual connection between the characteristics of the critters and the outcomes they lead to. Ex. In games like Bloons, you can see an explosion does AoE damage, and its intuitive and makes sense. In Critterland, it was harder to see what characteristics I chose for critters meant. There are some counterexamples -- "Drifting seeds" was immediately clear to me, and some things like spikes or spines were easier to see visually and somewhat intuitive, but it was hard to tell what was actually going on in the simulation, so it was not easy to connect characteristics to outcomes. For example, when I chose different sizes for plants, even though I could visually tell what was normal vs big, etc., I don't really have much of an idea of what the significance of that is after playing 9 levels or so. I think part of the fun of the game is learning to understand the system and growing your knowledge, but since it was hard for me to tell exactly what was going on in the system and which things were eating what, it made that learning take longer and be less fun an eye opening. Relatedly, I think I could learn more faster from the feedback loop if it was easier to keep track of what I did with different critters. For example, the names of each Critter are (by default at least) randomly generated but not really connected to the characteristics they have, and so when I see them on the scoreboard, I often forget whether Whimsical Sapling has dense growth or deep roots, etc. I also think it would be cool if you could click on critters and see what kind of critter they were and what was happening to them. Maybe there is a way to do this and I just didn't find it. One thing that I found fun in other games that wasn't in Critterland was some kind of micro to do in between building critters. For example, in Kingdom Rush and Bloons -- and especially games like Starcraft, there are always things you can do with the things you put out on the map, and those are kind of fun. I think it was a reasonable choice not to include them here, and it would have perhaps undermined the simulation vibe; but I do find those mechanics fun, and I would consider adding something like that if you were to work more on the game. Overall, it was super impressive and enjoyable to play for a bit. Congrats on making something legit.
I can't really recommend this because it's rather unclear what exactly is happening. There's no guide or documentation as far as I can tell to explain what anything does or what is happening. A shame because it seems like there's potential here.
