Cricket Through the Ages

Если честно, без понятия, как выглядит реальный крикет, но этот мне определённо нравится! Я проходил только достаточно короткую кампанию в одиночку, при игре с другом может засосать надолго. Нам поведают историю о том, как зародился крикет. Всё пошло с пещерных людей, а закончилось миллионами лет спустя, даже минуя наши дни. Всю эту дурь даже трудно объяснить. Правила могут быть разными. Управление состоит буквально из 2-3 кнопок. Чаще всего мы будем бросать мяч или отбивать его. Если в позиции отбивающего выбиваете мяч за пределы зоны видимости, то получите очки. А если ещё и утку пролетающую ударите, то получите +1! В некоторых случаях даже избиение оппонента приветствуется. В позиции подающего всё посложнее. Нужно бросить мяч так, чтобы он пролетел мимо отбивающего и повалил конструкцию сзади него. К этому нужно будет дольше всего привыкать, потому что вы можете бросить мяч назад или просто наверх. Мячом тут может быть не только нужный для крикета. Сойдёт футбольный, баскетбольный, для гольфа, шар для боулинга, краб, змея… в общем, вы поняли! А отбивать не обязательно нужным для крикета предметом. Вы можете бить лазерным мечом, булавой, клюшкой для гольфа и так далее. Порой условия могут измениться, сделав погоду дождливой. Также вы можете стать лилипутами или гигантами. Иногда будет раунд с замедлением времени. В одном эпизоде вообще будет вторая мировая война, где вам нужно пройти одним из солдатов на территорию противника для победы. У нас будут ружья, у которых можно использовать только штык-нож. Также в качестве мяча будет граната. Этот эпизод и забавный и грустноватый. Персонажей будет довольно много. Получится сыграть за каратиста, футболиста, огромного краба, инопланетянина, гимназиста и так далее. Также здесь присутствует физика, потому что это Free Lives, у них всегда всё с этим хорошо. Вы вполне можете бросить мяч в лицо противнику, а после он отскочит в ваше лицо. Или можно случайно уронить оружие и оно залетит в оппонента. Последним уровнем будет ультракрикет, где надо набрать большое количество очков два раунда из трёх. Там будут случайные персонажи со случайными мячами и оружием для отбивания. Дичь добротная и максимально весёлая. Могу только гадать, насколько это всё весело вдвоём. Мультиплеера тут нет, играть вместе вы можете исключительно на одном устройстве. Хоть я и не пробовал, но кампания наглядно показывает, что генерировать весёлые моменты она может почти каждый раунд. Выглядит игра минималистично и крайне приятно. Оптимизация превосходная. Музыка стандартная для Free Lives, даже некоторые звуковые эффекты отсылают к прошлым проектам. Хоть я и “прошёл” все уровни достаточно быстро, но если у вас есть друзья, которые могут прийти к вам в гости, то вы можете провести огромное количество весёлых дней. А иначе Free Lives делать не умеют, всегда безумно и весело! За отборной дичью обращайтесь к Devolver Digital, потому что фигни они никогда не издают! Разработчики из Free Lives сами в интервью сказали, что нормальных людей среди них нет. Я в это охотно верю и желаю им продолжать в том же духе! Плюсы: - казуальный игровой процесс - веселье и безумие - прекрасный внешний вид - наличие физики - самое то для игры с другом - непродолжительная, если вы одиночка Минусы: - друг в комплект с игрой не входит

Before I played this, I knew little to nothing about the wonders of cricket, but after playing this informative work of art, I discovered all the beauty the sport has to offer. Really fun game, was fascinated to learn how little cricket has to do with team work and skill, and how much it has to do with dinosaurs and giant crab mutants.

Críquete é um esporte bem interessante, ainda mais aqui no Brasil, onde é conhecido como "taco". Joguei muito com amigos! Quando vi esse jogo, fiquei curioso, pois não existem muitos jogos sobre esse esporte. Porém, pelo próprio trailer já dá para ver que não é um simulador, mas sim um jogo totalmente casual. E já aviso: se tiver um amigo para jogar, fica ainda mais divertido. Aqui, é sempre 1 x 1, mas em várias situações inusitadas e épocas diferentes da história do mundo, desde controlar um dinossauro até jogar como a rainha da Inglaterra. O jogo é extremamente divertido e tem uma física absurda! Algumas jogadas são tão inacreditáveis que você nem acredita que conseguiu fazer. Jogar sozinho é divertido, mas fica claro que a proposta é jogar com um amigo (via Parsec), o que com certeza torna tudo ainda mais divertido. Em promoção, o jogo deve ficar ainda mais barato do que já é. Aí vale a conferida! Críquete pode não ser muito apreciado por aqui, mas o foco do jogo é só usar o esporte como plano de fundo para deixar tudo mais divertido e caótico, e isso ele faz de sobra. Super fun two-player game. My kids were laughing for hours. Highly recommend for an obsurd, silly and clever low-time-commitment game.

An amazing gem of a game! I had an excellent time with the developer's previous title Broforce and I think Cricket Through The Ages knocks it out of the park (heh) in the same way. It's hilarious, easy to pick up and surprisingly thought-provoking and philosophical. Dials the whimsy while keeping it readable and very playable - an extremely rare combination. Art, animations, sound design and "feel" are all on point. Super creative work, at less than $10 this is a must buy. Truly great co-op games are hard to find. Thanks developers!

Overall a fun, interesting, quirky game, good for a quick laugh either by yourself or with a friend. My only complaint about the game is that it never explicitly tells you what the controls are, nor is there any sort of info about controls anywhere in the game, not even in the main/pause menus. With a quick Google search, it seems that the entire game is played with a singular button, but I'm honestly not sure if I believe that, as pressing different buttons/keys seems to cause the characters to move in slightly different ways. The art style is nice enough for such a simple game, and the game as a whole works as intended. I did not come across any bugs or strange behavior from the game.

Played split screen with a kid for over an hour - already got enough laughs to justify buying!

Truly one of the most historically accurate games I have ever played

Why didn't I review this? What is wrong with me? Maybe I took a bodyline shot too many, I onno. You may not know much about cricket and, honestly, you don't really need to. This is cricket throughout the ages, and frankly, sports mutate over time. Cricket is no exception. All this flummery aside, it's a goofy ragdoll physics games wrapped in a thin veneer of (mostly) sports, and sometimes (post-apocalyptic or prehistoric) combat. It's kind of random, a bit wacky, and presented utterly deadpan seriously which is part of the humour. What you need is a buddy to play with who likes (or could use) a good laugh who isn't that worked up about wins and losses. Yes, it's a competitive game, but the prize for winning is getting your head cut off by the Queen... who is controlled by the losing player anyway. Oh sorry, I should have spoilered that. Anyway, it's a lighthearted bit of fluff, intentionally awkward to control, and you can do Steam's remote play thing to get your buddy in on this. It will take about 2, 3 hours to play once through the game in its entirety. I used it to cheer up a buddy of mine once, when he was down in the dumps, so I think it was very much money well spent. By the way, if you don't know much about cricket, just try to hit the stick-things at the far end. Doesn't matter what you use. The ball is fine. Your opponent is fine too.
