YES it feels a bit like Terraria. YES you run around collecting items/mats to craft item upgrade stations. YES there are NPC's (but you figure out how to get them, no spoiler here) YES I think there is enough here to make it FEEL like a WHOLE NEW GAME. Not a copy of another game. There is one NO, and this might stop me from playing further - but possibly not someone else. NO the armor/weapon leveling is NOT the same. This is the only thing I DON'T like with this game so far. Craft stations are found or crafted to make items and I have randomly found additional "Parts" to add to the craft stations to make additional items/upgrades. However, the way to upgrade items is so random it's hard to know if the upgrade is good or not. If there is a "method" to make this system easier to understand - I haven't found it yet. For me its frustrating and takes some of the joy away from playing. Due to idk where I am on the progression scale. Am I progressing? Whats next? Some things are fun to figure out - but not when it stalls the whole game. If this is something you don't mind - then you will probably like the game and not feel "Stuck" like I do.

I can tell this game is clearly a work of passion, though it won't be getting updates anymore and there's not a ton of content, this game is obviously a product of working too hard, from the art-style and the mechanics both me and my friend agree that it is more than enjoyable.
I love the exploration elements!
What even are these controls?
A Brilliant Masterpiece That Ended Far Too Soon
The Verdict: Crea is an absolute triumph of the 2D sandbox RPG genre. It took the core concept of games like Terraria and elevated it with deep, rewarding RPG mechanics. It is an amazing game, and my only real heartbreak is that development stopped right when the universe was primed to keep expanding.

Why It Is Absolutely Amazing
True RPG Progression: This isn't just a game where you dig holes and build houses; it’s a full-blown RPG. With a massive talent tree boasting over 80 skills, every single thing you do—from swinging a sword to gathering materials—feels like it’s actively making your character stronger and more customized. Genius Crafting & Chaos Research: The crafting mechanics are a breath of fresh air. Instead of just looking at a checklist, you actively research raw materials to unlock recipes, turning progression into a rewarding scavenger hunt. Plus, the dynamic "Chaos Crafting" system adds an awesome layer of strategy to forging your gear. Dynamic Combat & Exploration: The combat loops don't just let you mindlessly click at enemies. With dodge-rolling, shield-blocking, and distinct playstyles for Swords, Spears, Bows, and Magic, taking on the realm's corrupt bosses requires genuine skill. Traveling through Way Crystals into entirely unique procedural Realms feels genuinely adventurous.

The Heartbreak: I Wish It Kept Going
The Unfinished Future: After the Chaos Awakened update, the game basically hit a standstill. The custom engine modernization, the planned v1.8 features, and the expanding lore just sort of evaporated when development ceased. So Much Untapped Potential: The foundations laid down by Siege Games are so strong that you can't help but play it and constantly think about what could have been. The lore books scatter hints of a much larger world, the modding support via Python is incredibly robust, and the game loop was tuned to perfection. It is a tragedy that such a high-quality indie sandbox didn't get the massive, decade-long update lifecycle it deserved.

The Bottom Line: Do not let the lack of recent updates scare you away. Even in its final, frozen state, Crea offers dozens of hours of high-quality, addictive sandbox joy that easily stands toe-to-toe with the giants of the genre. It is a beautiful, deeply fun game that I will always love—I just severely wish the journey had kept going.
