i can finally be the dookie killer that i have always wanted to be
I had the chance to test Count Dookie Fart. I would have to say this is a game that would be good to pass a couple minutes while needing to waste time. The 99 Cent price tag seems un-reasonable UNLESS you are wanting to support an indie dev so they may continue to work on games and come out with something better in the future, if that is the case then I would say yes and pick it up. Currently you play 1 level and start over, no progression like you would see in other games of this sort, perhaps Yak Studios LLC is working on an update and I hope they do. COUNT DOOKIE FART. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO LOVE COUNT DOOKIE FART SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD PEAK WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE LOVE I FEEL FOR COUNT DOOKIE FART AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. PEAK! PEAK!
Count Dookie Fart, developed and published by Yak Studios LLC, is an unapologetically absurd indie title that builds its entire identity around juvenile humor and extremely simple mechanics. From the moment you read its name, the game makes it clear that it is not striving for sophistication, emotional storytelling, or deep strategic systems. Instead, it embraces silliness as its primary hook, delivering a short, arcade-style experience built around a single repetitive but oddly compelling gameplay loop. The premise alone sets the tone: you play as a small-town sheriff trying to stop the mysterious Count Dookie, whose nightly antics threaten to overwhelm the area in clouds of comedic chaos. The core gameplay takes place over individual “nights,” each functioning as a self-contained round. Armed only with a flashlight, you must patrol the outskirts of town and locate the elusive Count before he completes his gaseous mischief. The flashlight is your only tool, and it becomes both your weapon and your limitation. Using it drains battery power, forcing you to carefully time when and where you shine it. If you waste too much power searching blindly and fail to locate the Count before your battery runs dry, the night ends in failure. However, the battery slowly recharges, introducing a small but meaningful layer of resource management. This push-and-pull dynamic between urgency and conservation is what keeps the experience from feeling entirely mindless. To add some variety, each night begins with a randomized modifier delivered through the game’s humorously titled “Wheel of Dookie.” These modifiers slightly adjust conditions, sometimes making the Count harder to find or offering environmental advantages such as additional light. While these changes do not dramatically alter the structure of the game, they inject enough unpredictability to keep sessions from feeling completely identical. The procedural element encourages repeated attempts, particularly for players aiming to improve their efficiency or achieve higher success streaks. Visually, the game adopts a minimalist 2D presentation that aligns with its comedic tone. Graphics are simple, colorful, and intentionally unrefined, reflecting the lighthearted spirit of the concept. There is no attempt at realism or complex animation; instead, the visual design prioritizes clarity and accessibility. Controls are equally straightforward, relying primarily on mouse interaction. This simplicity makes the game immediately approachable, even for players who rarely engage with video games. It feels intentionally lightweight, as if designed to be picked up and understood within minutes. The humor is undoubtedly the centerpiece of the experience. Everything from the title to the in-game mechanics revolves around juvenile wordplay and absurdity. While this comedic style will not appeal to everyone, it is delivered with consistency and commitment. The game never pretends to be more than it is. For players who appreciate irreverent, low-brow humor and indie experimentation, that self-awareness becomes part of its charm. The absurd premise, combined with the surprisingly tense flashlight mechanic, creates moments that are both silly and strangely suspenseful. In terms of depth and longevity, Count Dookie Fart is intentionally limited. There is no overarching narrative, character development, or expanding progression system. Its appeal lies in short, repeatable sessions rather than long-term engagement. Most players will experience the entirety of its mechanics within a relatively brief time. However, this brevity can also be seen as a strength. The game does not overstay its welcome, functioning instead as a quick, humorous distraction that fits easily into short breaks or casual play sessions. Overall, Count Dookie Fart succeeds on its own terms as a small-scale indie novelty. It delivers a focused and consistent experience built around a single mechanic, enhanced by random modifiers and a distinctive comedic identity. While it lacks complexity and broader ambition, it embraces its simplicity and absurdity wholeheartedly. For players seeking a serious challenge or deep narrative immersion, it will likely fall short. For those open to quirky indie humor and brief arcade-style gameplay, it offers a lighthearted diversion that is as memorable as its name suggests. Rating: 5/10
