Coronavirus Nano Force is a 2D retro ripoff of Ateroids/SpaceWar! where you control a "nano ship" of some kind stuck in a petri dish and you must shoot stuff at the Coronavirus blobs bouncing around the cell with you. Movement and shooting is basically the same kind of deal as SpaceWar! from 1962, so it's great to see video gaming has advanced so much in the last 60 years. 2D retro gaming is a largely obsolete concept and the derivative, simplistic, hobby/school project feel of this game do prevent me from recommending it. The technical implementation here, such as it is, isn't the worst I've seen for a 2D game, it's reasonably well polished. Resolution is locked, which isn't acceptable, but at least you can customise the controls a bit, so at least some consideration has been made for gamers. Gameplay is pleasantly smooth, something most construction kit copy + pastes don't do right. That's because this game has been genuinely developed rather than dumped out of a construction kit like so many Steam cash grabs. But this is not a cash grab! The developer has done the most noble thing here and released the source code to the game. Making such contributions to the industry shows great esteem and professionalism. It's unfortunate here the quality is too low overall for me to recommend, but I hope the developer goes on to work for a professional development company to make money for their considerable talent, without so many budget related compromises.
