Coral Quest

Very simplistic game that was obviously designed for phones. A 3rd person runner game where you move your fish on a 3x3 grid collecting shiny objects while avoiding obstacles. Cosmetics are unlocked along the way while you also accumulate currency that can be used to purchase additional characters or accessories. A cups-and-balls game is presented between levels to win additional currency, as well as almost depressing facts about plastic pollution. There is some variety in the level design with new environments and obstacles, but it does start to feel like a grind pretty quickly. A nice game to play while listening to music or a podcast.

Game is simple but cute. Young children will probably enjoy the game and the ability to change what fish they are.

[b]Coral Quest[/b] 19 Jun 22 3 out of 10 [b]Pros[/b] It works It stops when I tell it to stop [b]Cons[/b] Could be pure coincidence but while I was playing the game, my computer stopped seeing my mouse and had to Ctrl+Alt+Del and restart One can tell it is a mobile to PC Port without testing before they threw it up on Steam Price tag Graphics remind me on an old PS1 or Xbox game [b]Review[/b] The game is about cleaning up the ocean by eating the plastic items as a fish. Coral Quest is one of those mobile games where you need to swipe left, right, up or down to move your character in the path to eat plastic items in the ocean you live in. You then take the items and turn them into coins and unlock new species of fish to play as or accessories for your fish. The only real challenge is pressing the W,A,S,D keys -they can’t move the fish as fast as swiping could and you will never be able to 100% a level. The game itself is kinda cute and I could see where a young child might enjoy it, my only issue is the price tag. At the current $US9.99 it is not worth it as your child might get a few hours of entertainment from it - I say your child because if you can read then you are most likely too old for the game. The developer says they donate 25% of their profits to ocean clean-up but I can’t find anything that says they actually donate the funds - maybe I didn’t look hard enough but one would think that if they actually did this they would blast the info out to the world; maybe I’m being too cynical.
