RPG Maker strikes again!
This RPG Maker asset flip is from Gamesforfarm/Atomic Fabrik, who's already banned from Steam, so I guess Valve haven't quite cut off all the hydra heads yet, as he continues to create more and more fake developer accounts to hide his identity. Regardless, off the bat you shouldn't buy this asset flip because whenever Valve get around to enforcing their rule (and US Federal Law) about fake reviews, this asset flip will be removed.
"Convoluted Incident: Pinch me" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Notably the developer here couldn't work out how to use RPG Maker to make an RPG... and that's the only thing RPG Maker can do properly... except it's not even very good for making RPGs. Instead, we have a crap Russian adventure game, minimal effort, but this should be no surprise given who it's from.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.

They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
"Convoluted Incident: Pinch me" has the almost comically optimistic (if it wasn't so sad) price of around $9 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.
For comparison, the $9 asking price for this game could get you games like "Deep Rock Galactic", "Mass Effect Andromeda" or "Disco Elysium". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases.
