About
BEING A TEENAGER SUCKS. So we made a videogame about it.
Hey remember when your parents, your friends, and society at large all conspired to make you feel ugly, lazy, stupid, and unloved despite the brilliant human spirit contained within you? No? Well, allow us to refresh your memory via the timeless medium of a slice-of-life role-playing game!
In Consume Me, you take on the role of Jenny, young, in love, and entering her final year of high school. Make meticulous scheduling decisions to maximize your glow-up! Solve the puzzle game of dieting! Evade distractions as you pursue scholarly success! Do chores to get money from mom at a rate much lower than minimum wage!
Can you win the heart of the boy of your dreams? Can you hold on to it? Can you chart a course towards a sustainable future? Can you fit just one more TODO goal on your plate, or is it already full to bursting? Most importantly, does any of this matter--either in the game, or in a broader sense? I don't have time to spoil the story here, so I'll just give you a free tip: if you have the spare money, buy some coffee at the corner store and drink it for an extra free-time unit.
A darkly funny coming-of-age story: You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll get a little hungry, sometimes all at the same time! Sorry about that!
Every meal a puzzle: Eat your lunch, but be careful not too eat too much. Also, try not to eat too little either. Throw any food you don't want to the dog. It's fine, she's not on a diet!
Gripping strategic decision making: A limited amount of time and an unlimited number of things to do!? This classic combination introduces the ultimate strategic question: How should you be spending your time? It's up to you to answer this question...every day of your life!
Obtain powerful equipment: Choose from a selection of garments that help you dress for success. But be warned, the armor of this world degrades after a mere single day of use...until you renew it via that ancient ritual known only as "laundry."
Over 13 possible endings: Most of them bad!

Phenomenal game. You play as the developer, growing up as a teenager and battling with all sorts of issues like dieting, self-esteem, relationships, studying etc. I found it emotionally engaging and even teared up at the end, and yet it's not a text-heavy game at all. It's a difficult resource-management game that let's you experience the character's stress directly through gameplay. The game does a good job of giving you lots of different tools to help you solve your problems but they often have big drawbacks so you are making real strategic decisions. Do you chug energy drinks so you can stay up late to get all your homework done if it means having a terrible headache the next day and being miserable? Or do you take a cheat day from your diet to give you more energy and starve yourself the rest of the week, risking a snack binge ruining everything? You are given space to make your own mistakes and when I messed up and had to restart a chapter I already had an alternative strategy in mind to try. At the same time, the way the story is delivered with adorable emotive animations and a protagonist that wears their heart on their sleeve, it's easy to buy into her world. Not getting a perfect score on a test or missing a party because you didn't do the laundry really does feel like the end of the world. Ultimately I was very invested and enjoyed watching Jenny grow up.
This is an incredible game. The story was engrossing and it hits you right in the feelings. I love the art style, the mini games, and the game feel. Just an all around fantastic experience.
Fantastic game, really exceeded my expectations, especially as someone who is a little wary of slice-of-life rpgs that end up being an interactive story with sparce gameplay. Not the case here, there's plenty to do and decide on. The art and the humor immediately grabbed me and I really couldn't tear myself away until I got to the conclusion. Obviously a labor of love - the end really touched me. Very happy I gave this one a chance!
C'est drôle, intelligent et surprenant ! Une très belle expérience. Je recommande !
LOVE LOVE LOVE! SO hard but soo good
Reminds me of my own life except for the part where I accomplish anything at the end. If you're someone who tries a lot of indie games because once upon a time you played one that felt like a breath of fresh air in gaming, but now you are routinely disappointed by how shallow and undercooked a lot of the indie games you try end up being... then this game is for you. This one won't let you down, it's got the juice. 10/10
Consume Me manages to tell a personal yet relatable story about dieting, goals, and growing up. All told in a Persona-like day system with each time slice composed of Warioware-like minigames and a really charming artstyle that makes every minute of it a joy to play.
Very fun little game!
I loved the ending c:
