Seems someone has large school loans to cover. I am not super tech savvy, I just like to play games. I was a big fan of the CS released in 2022. The controls for this game are difficult, the graphics are mediocre, and it is just plain painful to try. I recognize it is a Pocket Edition, but let someone else put this in their back pocket. Save your money and buy something that is more entertaining... which is just about anything else.
Spart euer Geld und kauft euch was Unterhaltsameres … also so ziemlich alles andere. 2.
First of all, I really appreciate the developer’s decision to port these mobile releases to PC as alternatives to their mainline titles, particularly Construction Simulator. However, I have several issues with this game. [strike] 1. Poor Optimization – Despite being a mobile port, my gaming laptop (Intel Core i5-9300H CPU @ 2.4GHz (8 CPUs), 8 GB RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 630 & NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPUs) still struggles to maintain consistent FPS, especially in large open areas. [/strike] 1. Questionable Optimization – Although the game runs smoothly most of the time, it struggles when rendering distant areas, especially during high-FOV shots in cutscenes. There are also moments when the game microfreezes at intervals of 10–20 seconds. For reference, I'm playing on a laptop that should handle the game just fine (Intel Core i5-9300H CPU @ 2.4GHz (8 CPUs), 8 GB RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 630 & NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPUs). 2. Lack of Mouse Controls – Unlike Construction Simulator 2 and 3 Pocket Edition, the developers did not fully utilize mouse controls, particularly for camera movement and map panning. Additionally, you can’t even use the mouse pointer to select nearby vehicles, buildings, or unlockables. Instead, you're forced to use the construction view to select points of interest, which feels tedious and unnecessary. [strike] 3. Unrefined Mobile UI – As a PC port of a mobile game, I expected the developers to adjust the in-game UI by removing elements intended for mobile controls, but the opposite seems to be the case. [/strike] 3. Poor Key Mapping – For some reason, the developers thought it would be a good idea to change the keyboard mapping for this entry instead of keeping the layout from the previous two games. Furthermore, some of the new key bindings don't make sense. For instance, when rotating hooked cargo in a tracked excavator, the assigned buttons conflict with the reverse controls. On top of that, why do I have to hold number keys for an extended moment just to teleport, check mission objectives, or select vehicles? These changes simply don’t make sense to me. Overall, as someone coming from Construction Simulator 2 US Pocket Edition, this game feels like a lazy, bizzare port. Would I recommend this game? Unless the developers take the time to fix the issues listed above, I wouldn’t recommend it. However, if you still want to give it a try, the choice is yours. EDIT 1: I just played Construction Simulator 3 Pocket Edition to see if the same issues I mention apply there, but I'm happy to say that that wasn't the case. So, if you want to enjoy mobile releases, I highly recommend Construction Simulator 2 and 3 Pocket Editions instead of this game. EDIT 2: I've updated my review after playing the game a little bit. You can see the changes above
the game keeps freezing on loading screen, then camera keeps freezing
----------------------------------- First off, let me say this: if you've bought and played Construction Simulator (2022), I can say for sure you won't like this one. That said, I bought the third one. I had previously bought the third one from GOG, so I know how it plays. The third one has almost the same gameplay as the second one. However, this one has some shortcomings that need fixing. • You can't adjust the camera with the mouse. And it's not just the camera. Those who played the second game know that holding down the mouse button on the machine opened the menu. Here, you have to do everything with the keyboard. This needs to be fixed urgently. There's no such problem in the third game. At least, that's how it was in the version I bought from GOG. • There is more content than in the third game, but less than in the 2022 PC version. So, it doesn't make much sense for someone who has bought and finished the 2022 version (like me) to play this one. This game is only worth buying if it takes place in a different region and if there are a few different types of missions, but even then, it may not be worth it. • Features like control mappings, graphic settings, and adjusting the game music volume cannot be changed. This is a major drawback. • I don't even need to mention the graphics. Don't expect much from something ported from a mobile game. I didn't encounter many optimization issues, but there are bugs, as in every game. So, dear developers, you ported the game to PC, but it's extremely lazy. There are too many shortcomings. Given this situation, it feels like the approach is “Whatever we can squeeze out of people is profit.” Instead of porting these to PC and aiming to make money that way, it would be more profitable for you to continue releasing DLCs for the 2022 PC version, adding new machines, maps, and quests. I'm not planning to refund the game for now. But I can't recommend it in its current state either. If the fixes I mentioned come, at least there won't be any gameplay issues. But as I said, how logical it is to buy a game with less content than the 2022 version is up to you. I bought it because I love the machines and it's part of the series' collection.
Construction Simulator 4 - Pocket Edition is a streamlined entry in the long-running Construction Simulator franchise that aims to deliver the core appeal of heavy machinery operation and contract-based progression in a more compact, accessible form. Developed and published by astragon Development, this Pocket Edition is clearly designed with portability and lower hardware demands in mind, positioning itself as a lighter alternative to the full-scale PC releases rather than a direct replacement. The result is a game that preserves the recognizable identity of the series while making notable compromises in depth, presentation, and overall scope. At its foundation, the game follows the familiar Construction Simulator formula. Players take control of a small construction company, accept jobs across multiple regions, and complete tasks using a fleet of licensed construction vehicles. Progression is driven by completing contracts, earning money, and unlocking access to additional machinery and new job opportunities. The setting is inspired by Canadian landscapes and is divided into three regions, each offering its own collection of missions. This structure provides a clear sense of forward momentum, encouraging players to steadily expand their company and equipment roster. One of the strongest aspects of the Pocket Edition is its vehicle lineup. Despite the scaled-down nature of the game, it includes a large selection of officially licensed machines from well-known manufacturers. Excavators, loaders, cranes, trucks, and roadwork equipment are all represented, and each vehicle retains basic operational authenticity through distinct controls and functions. Cockpit views are included, which adds a layer of immersion and helps preserve the series’ signature feeling of “being in the machine,” even if the overall simulation depth is reduced. The construction jobs themselves cover a wide range of activities, from earthmoving and roadwork to material transport and structural tasks. On paper, the sheer number of missions suggests long-lasting content, but in practice many jobs follow similar patterns and lack the complexity seen in larger entries in the franchise. Tasks are generally more straightforward, with fewer interdependent steps and less emphasis on planning or logistics. This makes the game approachable for newcomers, but it can also lead to repetition for experienced players who are used to more involved construction workflows. Technically and visually, the Pocket Edition reflects its origins as a mobile-focused experience. Environments are functional but sparse, with limited detail and visual variety compared to full PC installments. Machinery models are recognizable, but animations and physics often feel simplified, reducing the tactile satisfaction of operating heavy equipment. Performance issues, bugs, and occasional control quirks further detract from immersion, and these rough edges are more noticeable when the game is played on PC rather than on a mobile platform where expectations might be lower. The overall pacing of the game reinforces its casual orientation. Jobs can be completed relatively quickly, and there is less emphasis on long-term management decisions or strategic planning. Company growth feels more linear, and financial pressure is generally forgiving. While this makes the game easy to pick up and play in short sessions, it also limits the sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming complex challenges or managing large-scale projects over time. Player reception has reflected this divide. Fans of the Construction Simulator series often approach the Pocket Edition expecting a condensed but still robust simulation experience, and many have been disappointed by how much depth has been stripped away. Those unfamiliar with the franchise or looking for a low-commitment construction game may find it more enjoyable, especially if they value accessibility over realism. Much of the criticism centers on the feeling that the Pocket Edition does not fully justify its place on PC when compared to the richer, more polished mainline titles. Ultimately, Construction Simulator 4 – Pocket Edition is best understood as a simplified offshoot rather than a core entry in the series. It succeeds in bringing licensed machinery, recognizable construction tasks, and basic company progression into a lightweight package, but it struggles to deliver the depth, polish, and immersion that long-time fans expect from the franchise. For players seeking a casual construction experience with minimal hardware demands and straightforward gameplay, it can provide moments of enjoyment. For those looking for a fully featured simulation with complex jobs and refined mechanics, it is likely to feel like a compromise that sacrifices too much in the name of accessibility. Rating: 4/10
