Company Rising is a business simulation game developed and published by Director Liu that aims to capture the full journey of building a company from the ground up. Instead of limiting players to a narrow management experience, the game embraces a broad entrepreneurial vision, allowing them to start with a modest operation and gradually transform it into a large-scale corporate powerhouse. The premise is immediately appealing to fans of economic strategy games because it focuses on the realities of growth, competition, and financial decision-making rather than relying on simplified tycoon mechanics. The early stages of the game are particularly effective at creating a sense of struggle and achievement. Players begin with limited resources and must carefully manage contracts, staffing, and operating expenses to keep the business alive. Every decision matters, as a poor investment or an overly ambitious expansion can quickly drain available funds. This creates a rewarding learning curve where success feels earned rather than handed to the player. The startup phase reflects many of the pressures associated with real-world entrepreneurship, making each milestone feel meaningful. A major strength of Company Rising is its detailed financial system. Revenue generation is only one part of the equation, as players must also manage cash flow, debt, payroll, research expenses, and operational costs. The game emphasizes that profitability alone is not enough to guarantee survival. Companies can still fail if resources are mismanaged or if growth outpaces available capital. This focus on financial realism adds depth and encourages long-term planning, making the experience more engaging for players who enjoy complex management systems. The workforce management aspect is another highlight. As businesses expand, players can recruit specialized employees and create a more sophisticated organizational structure. Departments dedicated to project management, finance, legal operations, and human resources contribute to overall efficiency and help support larger ambitions. Rather than treating employees as simple numerical bonuses, the game presents them as essential components of a functioning corporation. Building the right team becomes just as important as securing contracts or generating profits. One of the game's most ambitious features is the ability to diversify into multiple industries. Players are not confined to a single business model and can branch into areas such as artificial intelligence, gaming, electronics, and new-energy vehicle production. This variety significantly enhances replay value because each industry offers different opportunities and challenges. The process of researching products, establishing manufacturing capabilities, and launching new ventures creates a satisfying sense of progression as the company evolves into a diversified conglomerate. The game also explores advanced stages of corporate growth that many business simulators overlook. Players can seek investment funding, conduct mergers and acquisitions, expand research initiatives, and eventually pursue a public stock market listing. These mechanics help create the feeling of guiding a company through every phase of its lifecycle. Even after reaching a position of strength, new risks emerge in the form of market pressures, shareholder expectations, and fluctuating company performance. This ensures that the gameplay remains engaging well into the late game. Visually, Company Rising adopts a practical approach. The presentation focuses on delivering information clearly rather than impressing with elaborate graphics. Menus, data displays, and management tools take center stage, which is appropriate given the game's emphasis on strategy and decision-making. While the visuals may not stand out compared to more graphically ambitious simulation titles, they effectively support the underlying mechanics and make it easier to manage increasingly complex operations. The overall experience is best suited to players who enjoy detailed management and strategic planning. Those who appreciate balancing budgets, overseeing employees, and carefully plotting expansion strategies will likely find plenty to enjoy. Conversely, players seeking a casual or action-oriented experience may find the depth of the systems somewhat demanding. Company Rising is clearly designed for enthusiasts who want a comprehensive look at the challenges of building and maintaining a successful enterprise. Ultimately, Company Rising succeeds by delivering a surprisingly extensive business simulation that covers nearly every aspect of corporate development. Its combination of financial management, workforce organization, industrial diversification, and large-scale expansion creates a rewarding experience that captures the excitement and risk of entrepreneurship. While its presentation remains functional rather than flashy, the depth of its mechanics and the satisfaction of watching a small startup evolve into a corporate giant make it a compelling choice for fans of the genre.
Unfortunately, I was turned away from the game after IPO-ing and realizing that contracting was not effectively automated by the game. In essence, I have 7 teams of 20 members each consisting of planners, developers, and designers. This means we can only do software development work. However, the game still takes content creation contracts even though I lack the team members to do so. Will revise when this is fixed or someone teaches me how to set rules for this automation.
