Great idea... but littered with frustrating experiences over-and-over after 100s of hours. I wouldn't buy this until you have a lot of time, plus are a hardheaded individual who not only will take the time to learn, diving into the games database, but more-so combating dealing with all the bugs, crashes, freezing, errors. I can never finish scenarios like Operation Lightning Strike simply ferrying aircraft into position. Always locks up after hours invested in to it. I have zero trust in this development team and I've had enough. Just simply look at other problems here or via Google. Update, still hot burning crap of a game. Always wanted to try Hail Mary. So I reinstalled seeing updates and yep this game still sucks. I spent hours setting up the mission and get just a few hours into it and it locks up at the same zulu time every time. Past that the logic is so unrealistic. You'll fight you way into an area. Have compete control over it, taking out AEW, SAMs etc and the enemy will just dispatch more stuff like AEW out to missions that don't stand a chance on station. Again its a good idea but crap devs standing behind this. Newest update (10-20-2025) the game only gets worse IMO. The game is more stable from my earlier reviews, but now basics like plotting a course for JAZZM-ER or TLAM etc doesn't work. Others on forum currently reporting same. Still has the same BS logic as I've said above like when you the player clearly having air superiority, then the enemy still making crap plays like dispatching AEW without care. You can knock one out the the sky, have air superiority over its airfield and the AI will launch AEW or tankers without care. First few hours can feel realistic, but things start to break down the longer you play. I've given this software plenty of my time and to really be disappointed. I've seen people talking about the PE edition on the forums here... I would guess the losers of any recent conflicts are their customers. No not buy this game unless you have more time and money than sense.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I admit that this simulation clearly would take many hours just to get across the basics. However, I am reviewing this game early because the tutorials seem to be not kept up to date which is a big red flag for such a complex simulation. Edit: After completing all the tutorials except for the strike package tutorials and having a crack at two of the built in scenarios I give it a sideways thumb. The quality of the game It is very dependent on the scenarios being well built and having knowledge of all the combinations, I've also had the engine simulation stop and was resolved only by restarting the game. I tried reloading a save first (several since saves are taken every N seconds) and it wouldn't resume. It is a commitment to play this game.
Wouldnt recomend to anybody that gets upset easy lol. By far the most complicated game ive ever played in my entire life, let alone the most complicated ive ever even seen. I will say though, dont expect the tutorials to be very helpful, most of them are entirely inaccurate. just as an example, it tells you to open a menu with about 7000 different buttons you can press, then it says "it should be in the top middle of your screen", but trust me when i say this, its never in the top middle of the screen, infact it could be somewhere like the bottom left. i have gotten so mad just at the tutorials
I'm really torn in what to say in this review. Put it this way. I've played a total of just 15.4 hour's in this "game" however I've watched way more hours of tutorials on YouTube on how to play and I'm still confused. I really want to like it and the concept of the game appeals to me however honestly this "game" is just way to hard. The tutorials in the game in my opinion are confusing. The learning curve is enormous and honestly it's like you need to be trained in how to operate this software... like staring a new job. I've given up on it. If you like planning large scale battles with on sea, air and land buy the Combined Arms module in DCS World. It basically does everything but on a smaller and simpler scale.
i have no clue what im doing i have no clue what im meant to be doing i have no clue what is happening i have no clue why i even decided to go into this blind this game is confusing 10/10
For what it is, this game is amazing. My only issue with this game is that I wish the ground movements, details, and combat were as in depth, I would love to use this on a more strategic level to simulate ground Operations. (For this reason I'd say 80 dollars is overpriced, 40-60 is more reasonable and 60 is pushing it.) Wonderful game if you are interested in simulating air-to-air, air-to-ship, ship-to-ship, air-to-ground scenarios.
I am concerned that the NSA is being pinged every time I fire this game up. I can feel the NSA agents connecting anonymously to my Steam account and recording my game. I'm pretty sure that Tom Clancy's estate has direct access also to my PC whenever I start up this game. After I played this game against Syria and took down their forces and saved Assad's regime, I soon started seeing blacked out SUVs following me. Not only that, but I swear drones are constantly following my every move in New Jersey. I can hear them... see them.. feeeeeel them. This game... it IS just a game, right? I'm not ACTUALLY making decisions for our military, am I? Is this game really just an interface into WOPR at NORAD? I'm scared... I think Russians are watching me and using my tactics I've learned in this game.
The game is definitely worth it, the learning curve can be quite steep, and its not for everyone. But for people who are interested in a game which places a pretty comprehensive understanding on war gaming it's definitely for you! It's important to point out, that it can be played casually, however there will be a learning curve to get to the point that you know the game well enough to play it casually. (ur going to have points where you are going to want to chuck ur computer out of ur window but its worth it i swear)
