About
Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord is the first of the award-winning Combat Mission game series. Originally released in 2000, it takes you along WWI's Western Front from Normandy 1944 to Germany 1945 as a German or Allied Force Commander. Battle across blockades, tackle a village or two, drive through the plains, delve into the woods, and slog it out in the cities in historical scenarios and campaigns.
Combining unparalleled game depth and ease of use with a 3D environment, Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord offers turn-based hybrid simulation of WWI tactical warfare. This mixture of turn-based and real-time action with an emphasis on immersive gameplay will let you experience anything from the massive allied assault in Normandy through the liberation of Paris, up to the end of the war in Europe.

One of the best tactical simulators finally got win11 support! I remember this game on disk 20y ago and it is still stunning (if you're looking for simulation and tactics, not graphics)
Legend!
Very well done re-release. Improved the appearance of this CM1 Original dramatically. Added WASD controls and several other quality of life improvements and bug fixes. Now supports modern screen resolutions. No mess, no fuss. Good job.
This game is utterly amazing. The stories that this wargame unfolds are beautiful. Its a triumph of gameplay over graphics.. I play against AI and now my adult son - who is now hooked. Back in the day I played a lot of Email games. I personally prefer them to the newer games - it takes me right back to Squad Leader and ASL board games. If you want to see some of the stories look at some of Tim Stone's after action reports - they are hilarious and so well written. The game is updated slightly graphically, it has been improved with some QOL enhancements too. I haven't yet checked to see if my gigs of mods on cds and DVDs will work - but they probably will. please read the manual. It is probably up there in my favourite games of all time and If I could only ever play 3 games for the rest of my life it would be this, 1) CMBO (This) 2) modded Il2 1946 and 3) Skyrim!
great game
