Two twin sisters Vera and Milena set out to leave gifts in front of the idol of the Slavic god Perun, believing that gods would give them health and peace in the Jawia world. While Vera is handing over food to the idol, Sister Milena becomes playful and hides from Vera, leading Vera to the entrance to the Forbidden. In this place, robbers are sent when they receive the death penalty, where it was believed that demons wander.
After arriving at the Forbidden Forest, she hears her sister screaming, after which she decides to enter the forest. The entrance to the forest is closed, and there is no way out for Vera; the sunset has set. Enter the dark fairy tale…

The game has a lot of potential. The atmosphere is absolutely captivating, steeped in rich folklore and ancient traditions that create a hauntingly beautiful world. The art design and sound work together to evoke a sense of mystery and tension, drawing you deep into its eerie and atmospheric landscape. There’s a real sense of immersion here, and it’s clear that the game has the foundation to become something truly special as it develops further.
Why is this game not on consoles? It’s like Resident Evil in Old Slavic pagan times – what are PS and Xbox waiting for?
looks like a fun game, cant wait for more updates!!!
I really enjoyed Code Alkonost: Awakening of Evil~ ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ The soundtrack was beautiful and the characters had a lot of depth. I'm not usually great with puzzle games, but most of the puzzles were fun and satisfying to figure out... except for one chest near the end that drove me a little crazy 😅. The voice lines felt a bit rough at times, but the lore more than made up for it. I loved exploring the world, uncovering scrolls!! There’s clearly a lot of detail put into the world-building. I’m definitely going back to find more of the secrets I missed. If you enjoy story-rich puzzle games with a touch of Slavic mythology, this one’s worth checking out.
NOT WORTH at all! There's really not anything good to say about it. Everything looks like a one man project for a class done in a week. I saw an article about this game supposedly having "thousands" of players... i see now why the peak was 4 players and i'm guessing its all the dev team..
I also got this game via Lurkit and like the two negative reviews that also came from Lurkit, I also didn't have a great time with this. BUT I'm giving it a thumbs up. Why? First I'll echo the problems they had - the voice acting is stilted, the controls were a little loose, the screen flashing was ultimately too much for me and I had to stop playing. I and my audience on stream really weren't feeling it. However, I do think this game is and has exactly what a lot of people are looking for. It has a really cool setting, it has insanely good music, and it has a gameplay loop that makes sense (even if I was totally lost on the story). The truth of the matter is, I couldn't get more than about half an hour into it as the flashing screen and the way the camera was tied to the motion of the model made me a little sick. But these are problems inherent to me and might not bother others. So I can't, in good conscience, not recommend the game. I can - to a select audience. But I still wanted to leave a review for the devs and also thank them for giving me a chance to try it. If you want a run and hide gameplay loop with a bit of invisibility trickery, a slavic myth background and some genuinely epic music? You might find a lot to love here. If campy voice acting, flashing lights, and nonlinear storytelling drives you insane, you might find this is not for you. To the devs, if you see this - it took me awhile to find the mouse sensitivity controls. It wasn't immediately apparent I could scroll down in the settings menu. Maybe make a prominent, visible scroll bar? Could help. I am sad to see so much was initially AI generated. I really am not a fan of AI generation at all - even if it is manually adjusted later. Usually this leads to me marking a negative recommend out of the box, but in this one instance I'm choosing to overlook it simply because A. The devs haven't tried to hide it at all, openly disclosing it and making efforts to make it their own. B. Frankly, they did a lot of research into making the Slavic myths and portrayals culturally accurate and a game taking the time to dive into cultures and myths we don't usually see as much feels admirable. It was a choice I struggled with, but I'm ultimately letting the positive review stand. I just hope if the devs find the time and funds to go back they can and do fully replace anything that AI touched - I think it would greatly benefit them in the end.
Unfortunately for me and my rig, it didn't work out so well. i tried all 3, Dx12 Dx11, and Vulkan. It would play for 10 minutes and then crash my stream. I will attempt to play off of stream and hope i can at least give an updated, full review then. For me it was a 5/10
What a terrible experience, from start to finish. 30% of the game I was stuck because no idea tf was going on or where to go. Voice acting is terrible A walking horror simulator and the last boss fight is literally dark souls lol "This game was created by a diverse team full of individuals from various genders, cultures, religions" Didn't know AI had religions. Maybe next time focus on making a good game instead of being "diverse" just saying. 2/10
I'm skeptical of the positive reviews for this game, did I play a different game? Code Alkonost is a horror game with puzzle elements that draws heavily from Slavic mythology. You play a woman who is tasked with finding her sister after she goes missing while the two of them are making their regular offering to an idol. You quickly find yourself pursued by a soldier in full armor who mistakes you for a demon and punches you twice in the head and stabs you. You’re fine though somehow and wake up in the soldier’s house where he explains that he’s possessed when he leaves the house and will always mistake you for an enemy and try to kill you. You’re given an amulet that turns you invisible for a few seconds and sent on your way through six different areas where you must avoid a couple monsters (one of which is only encountered during a very short sequence), solve a couple puzzles, and fight the same boss a couple times where the mechanics/strategy don’t change at all. In case it wasn’t clear, this game is very bad. The graphics are bad, especially for an Unreal Engine 5 game. The tutorial menu spoils scenes in the game because each one is hyper specific to the scenario the mechanic pops up in instead of being generalized. The music decides to randomly cut out for no reason. The voiceover is possibly the worst I’ve ever heard in a game, and the developers state that at least some of them are AI generated, which is obvious. The sound levels aren’t consistent at all, with some voices being muffled one sentence while much louder and clearer the next. The story makes very little sense and suddenly ends with a cliffhanger which may or may not ever be resolved. The enemy, puzzle, item, and environmental variety are all lacking. Sometimes the sprint straight up doesn’t work or will stop working even when there is plenty of stamina bar left. It employs cheap jumpscares instead of proper horror. The only positive things I can say about this game are that it ran fine, the skull puzzle was kinda fun to solve, and the two identical boss battles were slightly engaging and a much-needed break in the monotony of just walking around trying to figure out where I was supposed to be going. Avoid this at all costs, there are no redeeming qualities here. 2.5/10
