Good game! Im just having trouble deleting teams when creating a custom roster
This mainly gets a positive review solely for the fact that it is a college hockey based video game. Some issues: No matter how strong my team I was never able to win the national title, the simming didn't make sense to me. Three years in a row I was the first seed and each time lost to the 16th seed in the first round. 7 seasons without a frozen four appearance. I'm not saying you should win every time, but this seems like more than just a coincidence. Decommits for overcrowding are a bit annoying. You can easily get them to recommit but they will continue to decommit each week. It would be better if you lost a large chunk of the progress bar which actually would give other teams a chance to steal the player, or if the player would firmly decommit. You can hire as many coaches as you want. Though the UI appears as though there is only a single coach per position, you can actually, for example, hire 10 trainers and have ridiculous injury avoidance and recovery. Record keeping could be vastly improved. While it saves certain data from season to season there is no reason it couldn't save it all. It is also pretty buggy, with some seasons not recording all player stats for my team for example. This is especially an issue under the alumni tab which usually shows only a small portion of the player's career stat in comparison to the team history records tab. Things I would like to see: Improved control of league rules - schedule, points, expansion New coaches - there never seemed to be new coaches available for hire. Some kind of NHL stat tracking, obviously not simming NHL seasons, but under the alumni tab it would be fun to see some kind of NHL numbers accumulate. A better strategy system. Once you set up the best fit for your coach it kind of never changes, regardless of the team you've recruited. Team prestige needs balance, after several seasons most teams approach 100
This is so in-depth and so much fun. Yeah they have some errors, and some bugs, but if you mention them he gets to them pretty quick.
Big fan of sports sims. This one is off to a good start - but there are a few lacking items: - Started out as Brown - in 4 years, there hasn't been a singe in-state recruit from RI. - I might be just bad at managing finances, but every year I am ~-$200k in the red, meaning facility upgrades are out of the question. - The auto scheduling could use some refinement - example - the Beanpot should be the same teams every year. - Recruiting certain prototypes may need a balance - found it very hard to find snipers and offensive defensemen, but playing as a small school, I may have just missed them. - Redshirting would be useful - Coach contracts/firing does not seem to be working - you get an approval rating but that's it. Assistant coach contracts are also just indefinite unless you fire them. There's also no job offers from bigger schools. Would be fun to have targets/expectations from the AD etc Overall, solid start but hoping for continued development to give longer term replayability.
The developer sent me a key for testing on this product, but did not ask for this review. I found the game so enjoyable that I wanted to write this myself! The core gameplay loop is very addicting. I found myself putting off some work I had to do because I would just keep clicking that "Advance Week" button. From the challenging, but straightforward recruitment to the tactics/lineup optimization and gameplay, I really could see myself flying through seasons. To me the game was easy to pick up (after a little bit of clunkiness getting started) and all of the important mechanics are well explained. I'm a big fan of sports management simulators and to find one in the college hockey space is awesome! I really enjoyed being able to load up my Alma Mater thanks to community rosters. I'm really looking forward to playing more and any of the fixes/enhancements that come along with it! 7/10 - would recommend trying it out!
Haven’t played too long but so far this game has been nice and fun, since I can use real teams from the online community feature I can play using my favorite real life NCAA team , I also love how it dosent suck all the fun out of recruiting since you get a certain amount of time to spend weekly but it’s not small enough where you only do very little. Highly recommend
My itch for a gm mode game on pc has finnaly been itched
New update to the color scheme of the game make's it very hard to read everything and is very tough on the eyes. It does not look like the black/dark mode it looks like in the pictures, which was very easy to read. It is impossible for me to play with the current color changes, which is sad because outside of that the game is pretty fantastic.
players randomly gone or jump from freshman to juniors at the start of the year. makes it unplayable.
