Cozy camping trip in an archipelago with a heart full of compassion for nature and one another. Lend a helping hand, find treasures, put on a cool hat, clean up the environment. Short and sweet but take your time and smell the flowers.
DO NOT BUY! BROKEN, AND WILL APPARENTLY NOT BE FIXED. or, you know, take your chances. good luck. Yeah ok. The world does need more short hike -likes. But this one does not work. Or at least I couldn't get it to work on my computer. Makes me a little sad. Maybe it will be fixed? Well... There has been over a year to do so, yet it's still broken in ways both simple and complex. UPDATE: Apparently it won't get fixed. Do not buy the game, or only do if finding bugs is your primary motive. The game has some potential, which will be sad to see get wasted. I'll mess around a bit more, but doesn't look great. Yeah I’m giving up. :(
Unfortunately extremely buggy, particularly the intro lobby area where it's easy to get stuck or deadlock the system. We were expecting something like "a short hike" but I guess this guy's summer vacation ended and decided to abandon it rather than fix the obvious problems. Do not buy.
Cute little game, relaxing and stress-free. My 4 yo kid *loves* to play this game and watch me explore the islands in search of chests, items to collect and mountains to climb, just to jump minutes later into the sea. Sometimes the movement is a bit clunky, and there are some precision platforming sections that can be challenging to access some collectables, but nothing insurmountable. The overall atmosphere is super chill and lovely. Some characters have surprisingly issues that are not often talked about in games. It's nice to see these subjects tackled. The equipment screen could receive some QoL features, by putting on the top of the list the useful items first, but it's not that often we need the shovel or water can so it's OK.
Cute little game about exploring different islands. I love games that have this similar story & vibe. I enjoyed trying to get as many collectibles as possible during my stream, and overall checking out the different islands and characters. Shout out to Marine who talks about having a stomach ache due to her period. Overall a nice & short experience. Here's my first impressions: https://youtu.be/EdvCvjM5onY
Cloud Valley is a relaxed adventure game that shamelessly wears its influences on its sleeve. It borrows a lot from A Short Hike (
Hello Claire!
) and Animal Crossing, but it feels like it’s coming from a place of admiration. However, the game feels like it was released too early. I am far from entomophobic, but I felt like I was consistently running into issues. Sometimes it was small forgivable things like temporarily getting stuck in the climbing animation or hovering off the ground after falling off a cliff. While other times it was frustrating things like the playable character getting stuck and having to restart because you were auto saved there and quests not completing despite the task giver telling you about your reward. This is a situation where I wish Steam had a neutral review option. I recognize and understand this is a solo developer who over time will likely fix some of the issues. And I think the price of the game is more than fair when you consider similar games like Little Kitty Big City, Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, and Lil Gator Game being nearly 3x as expensive at full price. But there is still some work to be done before Cloud Valley can be mentioned in the same conversation as those games.
A cozy little adventure that lets you wander a charming world and meet its adorable characters.
