Cloudkeeper: Shrine of Dal has me hooked. The artwork and music alone make it worth playing, genuinely impressive for an indie game. The gameplay has been a lot of fun, and the difficulty ramps up nicely. I used casual mode to get familiar with things before jumping into challenge mode. It's intuitive and well designed. It's only in Early Access, but there's already a ton of content, with new characters and items to experiment with. The bosses are really cool too, and rooted in cultural lore, which makes encountering them even more special. Between the variety of playable characters you can unlock, the different clouds available, and the items that spawn, there are plenty of interesting paths to victory (or defeat). Overall, this game is a gem and I'm giving it 5 stars. You can tell from the small details that it was made with a lot of passion and hard work. Excited to see where it goes from here!

I am having so much fun finding all of the little intricacies that help my Cloud Keeper get further each level.
I'm having a blast! The game has gorgeous art, a really nice soundtrack, and satisfying gameplay. I'm currently experimenting with the upgrades/clouds and seeing if I can beat my first run =) Definitely recommended!

DISCLOSURE: I have been a play tester for this game for the past two and a half years. TL;DR - A delightful bullet-heaven game that offers a decent challenge with a focus on character builds and boss battles. A bullet-heaven rogue-lite game that celebrates traditional Korean folklore, an under-explored setting in video games. For each run, you pick a character from a roster of characters inspired by different heroes and archetypes from Korean culture that each have their strengths and weaknesses. You purchase cute adorable clouds that do most of the fighting, along with upgrades that enhance their combat capabilities. You are heavily encouraged to experiment with different clouds and upgrades, and there are a variety of builds that you can play around with. The highlight of each run are the bosses, each uniquely designed with different attack patterns. The gameplay can be challenging, especially if you don't have experience with bullet-heaven style games. The difficulty curve is gentle enough and there are in-game mechanics that allow you to incrementally get more powerful with each run, similar to other rogue-lites. All of the enemies have different attack patterns that are well-telegraphed enough that they feel fair. Dodging enemies and projectiles is important, but will take you only so far - the most important thing is to make sure you build a competent team of clouds so that you don't get overwhelmed by the horde of enemies. Like other rogue-lites, there is an element of luck (like which clouds or upgrades you can buy each round), and some characters are more beginner-friendly than others. Still, player skill is the deciding factor on whether you will complete a run or not. The setting is noteworthy as there aren't many well known video games (at least in the West) with a traditional Korean folklore/mythology setting. While not giving away too many details, much of the art, music and story feel authentic to the setting, as someone who is somewhat familiar with Korean culture. It's a blend of 16-bit era pixel art, Korean folklore, and traditional Korean music, something you don't see a lot on Steam. The game heavily focuses on combat, so some of the NPC interactions, visuals, and playable characters may not feel as polished. The game has just released to Early Access (as of the writing of this review, Aug 2026), so hopefully these are things that future updates can address. As someone who has been playtesting since the very early stages of the game, I'm pretty confident that there will be many more content updates that will further improve the game before the game sees it's full release. I would recommend this game to anyone who's looking for a short and sweet rogue-lite experience. The game is well-worth the price tag in it's current state despite being in EA, you would be supporting the passion project of a developer who really cares about delivering a great experience for the player. I can attest to this as someone who has seen how much the game has changed over the span of just two and a half years.
I played the demo for this game awhile back and really enjoyed it. I’m so happy it hit early access now! My thoughts on the game so far: - The art style is really pretty and pleasant to the eyes. Colors are really punchy around your character and for enemy projectiles which is sooo nice for these types of games where there is so much going on screen - The gameplay loop is really fun. If you enjoyed Vampire Survivors, you’ll enjoy this game. It has some fun mechanics around the clouds and relics that distinguish it from other games in the genre. On top of that, there are characters to unlock that each have special abilities. It makes for quite a bit of depth. I find myself day dreaming about all of the different builds I want to try out. - There’s a decent meta progression system outside of each run to power up your characters overtime that adds even more depth. - There are quite a few enemy varieties, each with unique mechanics that you’ll have to learn. I unlocked a new area/level/map and there were several new enemies including a new boss that kicked my ass. - There are a lot of NPCs to interact with during a run between combat, that have fun tidbits and some even give rewards. - There is an overarching story that unfolds as you beat each level. Really enjoying the game so far.. Will follow up as I play more.
