The game is a walking simulator with survival horror moments. And neither of those things are rewarding. There's not a lot of mystery for you to uncover: the game feeds you what you "need" to know and it doesn't seem like anything periphery matters. There's not much point to exploring, which is actually a bit disappointing because the graphics, setting, and theming are kind of nice. The survival horror moments come and go, more than few times without warning. You might or might not see that something has appeared and is about to chase you; you might simply notice you're suddenly able to *actually run* (vs. walking slightly faster) and that the music has picked up. Things chasing you will randomly stop or encounter obstructions -- again, you'll know when you're suddenly unable to run anymore. All interactions (including "crouch under here", "jump over this", "squeeze through this way") are mouse clicks when prompted, which feels clumsy in the midst of "OMG IT'S RIGHT BEHIND ME" moments. And it *is* right behind you: there is very little economy for missteps, failure to run ASAP, and not centering your view to make that crouch/jump/squeeze click as soon as it's available. And *when* it catches you, you'll have to sit through the entire murder/autopsy/being-eaten scene: the controls are disabled, so there's no skipping it. And these scenes are not short: while they're not terribly detailed, it very much struck me that they felt purposefully drawn out. But that's cool, because this is only half of the game... in that, there is no other half that's playable: you just get stringed along
by some sort of time loop involving a future you
that isn't actually part of the game. "Concepts" of an ending. Boo.

Loved it. Wished they would make more games like this!
Must Destroy The Circle
Close To The Sun is a really great game! If you enjoy walking simulators with mystery, fun writing, and puzzles, then this game is for you! When I first played this game, I thought it was going to be just a simple walking simulator with few puzzles strewn about the place, but I was really wrong. Firstly, the story of this game is pretty interesting. The whole idea of a giant ship the size of, what I believe to be, bigger than a modern day cruise ship and have facilities to have multiple giant floors is intriguing. Plus, they fill in the lore with tid bits of newspapers and writings on the wall. All of it makes for a very interesting and wild ride of an alternate history world. Plus, the characters, and their connections to inventions and world events make this so much cooler. The game play is not super detailed, here. I mean, this is a walking simulator, but there are chase scenes and puzzles. There are many horror aspects to this game, but it really adds to it, I think. The overall feeling of this game is really there. It feels like Bioshock, as others have said. And, it ties history with interesting voice acting, and fun puzzles. I don't think many will like this game, but it had some good moments. I hope you check it out, Time travelers!
Close To The Sun aka
