Short version: Citadel is a bug-ridden, unfinished one-man product that could have easily been a mod of some sorts rather than the pitiful 10$ cash grab it is right now. The developer is obviously inexperienced and while the effort and idea deserve both respect and attention to some degree, the release of such a mess are evidence to the developer's greed rather than his ingenuity. Do not believe other reviews. Fishy stuff. Instead play "Half Dead", also inspired by Cube and eons better - and it's two Euros. Now the facts: - good idea for a game - little diversity / content to encounter - arguably the worst controls I have seen in a non-mod non-flash game in decades - clunky movement, nigh unusable ranged "attack" skill, which is sometimes mandatory to proceed - purely trial & error (while this is an okay thing for rogue-lites, it doesn't fit the promised "cube" inspiration - the only inspiration actually drawn from the movie is "we make cube-shaped rooms in a cube-shaped giant object and have random traps in every other room") - (unlike in the movie) traps cannot really be outwitted, you're mostly busy trying to fight the controls / movement to navigate through an obvious obstacle course or die in a room you have not seen before, because there's no way of knowing what's going to happen or how to prevent it from killing you - bugs (this is almost a plus, because they cause quite a bit of amusement if playing with friends especially, but they become an arbitrary nightmare when trying to succeed in the game) - basically absolutely no settings to mention, including no key-rebinds or explanation for how the controller works (imagine this: the mouse sensitivity actually means camera sensitivity, so it also affects the controller camera sensitivity), no resolution settings etc. - no warm welcome, you just drop into some dull-ass room and are left guessing what player is doing what and who is who etc. - everybody uses the same single map at all times (this can either be a good thing, because people gotta coordinate to avoid bugs / traps / disaster, or (mostly the case) you keep pushing each other off ledges unintentionally and die laughing from the awkward pitch-decrease applied to the voice chat automatically) - did I mention the bugs yet? - god-awful graphics, and I mean it's not just a horrible engine (Unity with ugly assets), general atmosphere and textures are an eye sore and make me feel suicidal after not even half an hour - hands down the worst sound effects I witnessed in... I don't know, possibly any game I ever touched (and no, I usually don't touch these school projects whose origin and forthcoming to Steam will always remain a f***ing mystery to me, so there's probably worse out there): they're loud, they hurt my ears and there is very little of them, making them feel repetitive, out of place and just generally annoying - suspiciously lackluster positive reviews, smells fishy (not gonna claim anything else, you make up your own mind) Overall a disappointment. When my girlfriend suggested to play this together and bought two copies for currently roundabout 15 European gold coins, we were hoping for a niche puzzler with a reasonable amount of gameplay diversity and general playability. Now I can safely say: Avoid unless drunk, game was gifted / less than 1 international coin AND playing with multiple friends you hate with a passion so you can keep pushing each other into darkness. Or in other words: Ridiculously bad attempt at making a game out of a half-wise novel idea.

If you've seen the move "The Cube", this is just like it but in video game form! It's a really unique idea thats a TON of fun to play. I love games that are challenging yet not frustrating and this fits the bill perfectly. Very excited to see this game grow!
Pros: Hard puzzles (may not be for everyone) Good controls Runs at 60fps/up Cons: Says online but i didn't see anyone?? No tutorial (It should have one) No story as far as i can tell Not the best graphics Vey little character customization (you can only get new masks for what i can tell) Overall i didn't really enjoy the game as i was mostly confused where to go and how to even solve the first puzzle -_- may just be me. -My Quick look (First impressions): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2u1sW6eiew
A really hard game with random maze. You are lucky guy if can solve this puzzle and find a exit quickly. Different masks is a "trophy for a good hunt". I'm still playing now and waiting for new masks, rooms, modes and leadership table :) Wishing a good way for this game.
Asethetic is nice but the game itself is hardly a game. Cool concept but this feels like a ps1 game.
Not a bad game from the outside, but once you launch it and start to explore, it appears to be very lacking. The puzzles are good, challenging enough and decent, but the game itself is very buggy, there's no tutorial, and no storyline, basically this game is lacking the depth we all look for in a puzzler.
Very good for the game in the early access. By the behavior of the player needs a little getting used to. A couple of times I fell down, but then how to master the room began to pass various obstacles. I liked that the game is randomly generated levels and has joint passage. I watched the movie "Cube" and he liked me, I am glad that on this subject made the game.
A wonderful game, which follows the Cube concept quite well, and it can ♥♥♥♥ you up at most unexcpected moments, eventhough it is still in early access. Definitely worth every penny! ^_^ !3
