Another early access title I'm looking forward to seeing develop. Pacman met a rouge-lite and had a little resource collecting baby. What has me hooked is the cheevo's, lots to collect and worth grinding for. Check it out people.
Circuit Runner is a thrilling, fast-paced game that keeps you on your toes with its strategic gameplay and intense action. I particularly enjoyed the variety of skills and the challenge of navigating the maze-like levels. The dual play modes offered a refreshing change in perspective, and the feeling of progression kept me engaged. The mix of resource collection and skillful decision-making made every moment feel rewarding. I’d definitely play it again for the exciting challenges and the chance to climb the Leaderboards.
Circuit Runner is a fast-paced cyberpunk roguelike developed and published by No Sleep Till Monday that blends arcade-style action, exploration, and progression systems into a highly replayable experience. Set within a futuristic tower filled with danger and opportunity, the game challenges players to gather resources, enhance their abilities, and push deeper into hostile territory while searching for a way to escape. Its premise may sound straightforward, but the combination of roguelike mechanics and score-driven gameplay creates an engaging loop that rewards both skill and persistence. From the opening moments, Circuit Runner establishes a sense of urgency. Every run revolves around balancing exploration with survival, forcing players to make constant decisions about how much risk they are willing to take. Valuable resources are scattered throughout the environment, but obtaining them often means confronting stronger enemies or venturing into increasingly hazardous areas. This risk-versus-reward structure forms the backbone of the experience and keeps gameplay exciting even after multiple sessions. The game encourages players to learn from each failure and return stronger, a hallmark of successful roguelike design. Character progression plays a major role in maintaining long-term interest. Players can unlock and improve a variety of active and passive abilities that influence their preferred playstyle. Some upgrades focus on enhancing offensive power, while others improve survivability or efficiency during resource collection. This flexibility allows experimentation and ensures that no two runs feel exactly alike. Discovering combinations that complement specific strategies adds depth to the gameplay and provides a satisfying sense of growth over time. Combat is quick, demanding, and often chaotic. Enemies attack relentlessly, requiring constant movement and awareness. The bullet-hell influences become especially apparent during intense encounters where dodging incoming attacks is just as important as dealing damage. Success depends on quick reactions, positioning, and effective use of acquired abilities. While the difficulty can be unforgiving at times, overcoming challenging situations feels rewarding and reinforces the game's emphasis on player improvement rather than simple progression through content. The cyberpunk presentation complements the gameplay well. Neon lighting, futuristic technology, and digital-inspired environments create a distinctive atmosphere that fits the game's theme of survival within a hostile technological world. The visuals are colorful and readable, allowing players to keep track of enemies and hazards even when the screen becomes crowded with action. Combined with an energetic soundtrack, the presentation helps maintain momentum and contributes to the immersive feel of each run. One of Circuit Runner's more appealing features is its focus on competitive play through leaderboard rankings. Players who enjoy optimizing routes, maximizing efficiency, and refining their builds will find additional motivation in chasing higher scores. This competitive element significantly extends replayability, transforming each attempt into an opportunity to improve performance and climb the rankings. Even after mastering the basic mechanics, the desire to achieve better results provides a compelling reason to return. Despite its strengths, the game does have some limitations. The overall scope is relatively modest compared to larger roguelike titles, and some players may eventually notice repetition in the environments and core objectives. Those seeking a strong narrative or extensive world-building may also find the experience somewhat light on story content. However, the game's primary focus is clearly on gameplay systems, and it largely succeeds in delivering an entertaining and addictive loop centered on progression and mastery. Overall, Circuit Runner is an enjoyable indie roguelike that successfully combines cyberpunk aesthetics, fast-paced action, and meaningful progression. Its emphasis on resource management, skill customization, exploration, and competitive scoring creates a gameplay experience that remains engaging across repeated runs. While it may not redefine the genre, it demonstrates a clear understanding of what makes roguelikes compelling and offers enough variety and challenge to satisfy fans of arcade-inspired action games. For players who enjoy improving through repetition and testing their abilities against increasingly demanding challenges, Circuit Runner is a rewarding adventure that delivers plenty of excitement. Rating: 6/10
I'm absolutely loving Circuit Runner! The mix of FPS and top-down modes is interesting and fresh. Grabbing resources before the Arena closes is pure chaos—in the best way. The cyberpunk vibe is super spot-on, I highly recommend and I'm waiting to see what comes in the full release.
A really fun and enjoyable game with a variety in characters and upgradations.
