Insane Marathon influenced movement shooter

pretty unremarkable movement and linear scoring system, on top of most of the existing problems neon white had. like the weird gay stiff a lot but wish the gameplay was just as captivating as the weird girls...

Love Marathon's visual and thematic language? Love Neon White's hyper-fast second-shaving move-shoot score-attack speedrun optimization? You wanna do that in bigger, more freestyle-friendly stages? For a game that seemingly dropped out of nowhere, Its definitely made a strong impression on me. Its very fun to run through levels and chart out how to best combo your kills while also going for the cores In a timely manner. I didn't know I wanted a game like this till I played it. My only gripe is that its a bit short and I definitely want MORE. The presentation of this game Is top notch and its focused and clear in what its trying to do. Its a treat for the eyes. I can't wait to see what this developer(s?) does next. My score: 7.5/10

Cicadamata is a good time. Quite blatantly Cicadamata is inspired by Neon White with aesthetics taken from The Designers Republic and NuMarathon (I see Bungie credited as thanks in the credits and heard "Exfil will make me god", ball knows ball). Stages are really short romps with the main aim being scoring as high as possible by keeping up the "Zoned" status and comboing a pretty limited moveset to boost your score like DMC or Ultrakill. Compared to Neon White the stages get pretty open and are much more open to free-form pathing than resource management, though that's also largely due to your kit being really small and never evolving outside of any quirks you may figure out. There are hardly a dozen and a half stages, though. If you aren't interested in the extra modes from beating the game or score hunting you can blow through Cicadamata in an evening. The only reason it took me over 2 hours to beat Cicadamata is because I got caught up score hunting in some stages.

They/them-ussy hits different For real though, 10/10 game. Left me wanting so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ more, I hope we get to see additional levels + story at some point! Love Fawn-A2's design (iykyk), I got a little attached with the NB hints from the bundle name out the gate (Thanks for the rep!). I fw the "cute but will rock your ♥♥♥♥" energy so hard. Art style is one of my favorites; love the 4nt1r34l inspiration. The OG Marathon influences are also felt, with some Ultrakill spice while still being its own thing. Highly recommended, and there's definitely some speedrun potential here too.
