Aimless, pointless, tedious.
This is my second review for Walk the Plank :( I revisited this game and still didn't care for it. I did find it more playable with a guide, and relied on it heavily. The idea behind this is really nice and I love tabletop gaming, but the go here, get this, rock-paper-scissors of it all sort of didn't land with me. I didn't intuit what to do often enough that I gave up entirely, once, and tried again only to lean heavily on a walkthrough. Mad props to that friend, they got me to the blue ribbon. I don't think this game met my expectations. I figured it would be very different than it truly is- it's a lot of enter a map, click something, leave that portion, go here, talk to this person, exhaust the dialogue, leave this place, go here, talk to this person, leave. I thought this game was really simple and cute, definitely funny, but it was way more tedious/confusing than I imagined. It wouldn't be good for kids at all. The hints/clues are not very helpful. I noticed that the first achievement is really easy to get and it has 80% of players, meaning that 80% of people who buy this try it out and accidentally get that achievement (that's why I'm here again, after 2 years-- to get the ribbon), but the "you finished the game" achievement is like 40%? Half of the people don't finish what they start here, with Chook and Sosig. The enthusiasm, the willingness, is there for 80% of consumers, but they don't have it in them to finish. Or they simply don't care to. In any case, I think that's meaningful.
"Behind the scenes" also.
Got it while on discount which was a good choice. I like the character designs, especially the sounds Sosig makes. It's a cute game, the puzzles are easy. If you pause and forget what you did last you can always grab a hint.
https://youtu.be/8RBReDSJH-0 Woven narratives for the game within a game along with strong assist options make for a charming point 'n' click adventure.
This is an easy, amusing, relaxed adventure game. But... it's ultimately insubstantial and forgettable. It seems to be the fifth game in a series featuring the same cast of characters, even though it's currently the only one available on Steam; and yet you really don't feel like you're missing anything from the previous games, because the characters are basically one-note punchlines (isn't this one lazy? so very lazy! can you believe how lazy?). They're still pleasant enough that you don't mind spending time with them, but they absolutely do not leave a lasting impression.

Similarly, the narrative barely has anything to do with pirates, and even less to do with role playing. There are a couple of pirate jokes, and a couple of tabletop jokes, but there are also social media jokes and cult jokes; the unifying theme seems to be "jokes" more than anything else. It's funny enough, but there's nothing tying it all together, and the endings are shockingly abrupt because of that -- it's as if the creators ran out of joke ideas so they just decided to end the game there.

The controls are snappy and the movement is quick, but by the time you reach the end of the game, the load screens become a real annoyance. At first they don't seem bad at all, but once you start having to rapidly cycle between locations in order to solve puzzles, you end up spending almost as much time loading as you do playing. Which is a shame, because the music is quite nice, and all the loading really hampers the flow of it.
Short and sweet. The story was very funny, I liked the concept that they were playing a table top game together.
A point and click adventure game where the characters are playing a RPG. Art style is nice, characters are funny, puzzles are good and it doesn't outstay its welcome. Backtracking may irritate some.
I want to preface this with one important note. While I recommend it I definitely do not think its worth 10 usd. Do yourself a favor first and foremost and get it on a sale. It's far too short for the price with a good chunk of the gameplay being loading screens and just running around everywhere. That said the characters are cute, the story is simple, the gameplay is typical, very straightforward cut and dry. You play as a blue cat named Sosig in a little casual DND game about pirates. The big selling point for this game is the characters themselves. Some friendly banter, humor sprinkled about, it's a very charming point and click game that isn't too difficult to figure out. No danger, no dead ends, it's just overall a chill experience. A couple things that might turn people off towards the game though. It's a relatively short point and click adventure. I think point and click games tend to have a reputation for being pretty long since the bigger the game the more things the player has to work with which can mean running around a lot and trying everything if there's no clear direction for the player to take. This is one of those kinds of games where you're kinda left to figure it out but due to the simplicity and length it's not too bad to deal with although towards the middle and end you might find yourself running around a bunch trying to find the next step since some leads are more clear than others. That said there is a hint system in place so if you're not one for figuring out these things you can talk to Chook to get a nudge in the right direction or press space bar to highlight all the interactables on the map. Cute and chill but lacking in replayability unless you just forget about the game and want to give it another go out of the blue months later. Get it on sale, it's hard to justify the price.
Неплохой легкий квестик на вечерок. Приятные классические загадки и милые, забавные персонажи. Хорошо провел время. Ps: существует руссификатор
