The overall experience is positive: enjoyable riddles, scenic surroundings, and responsive controls. You might find it a bit challenging, but for me, that's a positive aspect when a game makes you think and encourages you to find solutions. The price is more than reasonable for several hours of engrossing gameplay.
All in all, the game is ok. The graphics, the gameplay and the sound are good. But there are no unique innovations or ground breaking features. The price for about 2-3 hours of playing time is appropriate
Short platformer that doesn’t excite beyond a single playthrough. You're a space pilot who is drawn to a distant planet by an unidentified force. You're now out of fuel, so you'll need to go locate some. This is a relatively basic platformer in comparison to others. It’s also very short and takes around 1 hour to beat. Your hero can jump, hit with a stick, and shoot. Despite the fact that you begin with no weapons, you will acquire them in the first two stages. Even more surprising is the lack of compatibility for gamepads. Which is a shame because playing platformers with a keyboard does not feel natural. Stages comes with movable platforms, some simple puzzles, and non-threatening monsters. Puzzles involve firing at crystals to activate something or pushing boxes on switches. Because you can accidentally push something into acid or make a mistake, there is a checkpoint reset option. This doesn't happen very often, but it's a simple solution to resolve an issue. Progress is old-school, which means the game is linear and you can't backtrack. This is a problem if you intend to gather every fuel can. There are no secrets, although certain switches allow access to at least one fuel can. One big issue is that you don't know how many are in each stage. If you want all the achievements, you’ll have a lot of issues.
The game is fine, but it is definitely a first effort and so short that I really think it should be made available for free. I think that would be a better way to get more feedback from players. The positives: The assets look nice, even if I think most of them are from various asset stores. The music is acceptable. Pretty standard box/button and platform moving puzzles and it does them fine. The negative: No controller support is unacceptable for a 2D platformer built in Unity. A lot of ledges feel like you shouldn't be able to jump to them, and the character kind of slides onto the platform at the height of the jump. Standard new creator kind of things that show it's a first or second project that they will learn to fix in future projects as they learn to code/program/build games better. Constructive Criticism: Once in the whole game I pushed a box into a liquid and the camera zoomed to show me what happened, but for the rest of the game there were switches moving doors and platforms that I could not see. The staff attack shifting the character forward feels jerky and unnatural. I'm sure the dev has learned a lot from the project and will make something better in the future!
The games is not bad but it does lack some more nuanced properties, there are multiple places in the game that you can get softblocked in and the only way to get out is to restart the whole level. Apart from there was a very specific movement and hitbox mechanics which felt kinda wrong. I also think the game would benefit from more dialog/lore popups to make it more lively and engaging. The way it is feels very silent.
