Fighting Chipmunks
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2829264254
STORY
Our heroes fight against other forest inhabitants, made in the form of medieval fighters.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is a side scroll slasher. You can fight alone, in co-op on a shared screen, or against a player on a shared screen. The game is divided into stages. At the end of each of them there is either a boss or special opponents. The hero has a fairly large supply of opportunities for passing. Three lives and six attempts to continue the game. Thus, a total of 18 lives. I liked the enemies. They are colorful with special attacks, they can throw the hero and in general - they require a thoughtful approach and a quick reaction. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2829264066 Consider the pros and cons of the game, sum up.
PROS:
+ Simple yet stylish graphics. + Good music and sound accompaniment. + Good combat system, dynamic fights. + A variety of enemies with different combat techniques. There are bosses. + You can play co-op (or PVP) on one computer.
CONS:
- Not detected.
CONCLUSIONS
A great game in the style of old-fashioned side-scrollers. Dynamic battles. In the role of the main characters are cool chipmunks. Обруталенные Чип и Дэйл попадают в фэнтезийное Средневековье и начинают давать люлей Крыскистадорам, донам Енотам и Кротам-каратистам. Нет, это не безумный китайский хак на "Dendy". Это абсурдная пародия на beat 'em up'ы эпохи SNES и Mega Drive. [i] It's a tribute to Golden Axe where each character is some kind of animal. It plays almost exactly the same, very similar controls and move set, minus the rides. You can pick one of 3 characters that have slightly different stats like speed, health, and throwing distance. Just like in Golden Axe, each individual can store special attack meter to unleash area-of-effect attacks. There are 3 different modes which include the arcade, survival and PvP (you can play them in a local coop, not sure if the new Steam feature would allow online play though). I died on the last boss, but the game is not very long, maybe an hour, with no replay value unless you want to grind some achievements. Overall, I don't have any big issues, I had fun playing it - works exactly as I would expect from a faithful imitation. The only thing I didn't like was the soundtrack, it was actually a bit irritating, certainly not one of the best OSTs that Golden Axe is known for. Buy it, if you love old beat'em ups, just don't expect a lot of replay value.
Redwall meets Golden Axe in a furocious melee featuring a woodland variety of vicious streetfighters.
First things first, I have a tender spot in my heart for the olden days of beat em ups. Games were simpler when all you had to do was traverse a slightly repetitive landscape while beating up your local variety of stereotypical monsters. Golden Axe was a shining example of how unleashing a group of relentless murder hobos upon an unsuspecting (preferably evil) adversary works surprisingly well to enhance an evening with your friends crouched around a monitor. The fact that this is a small indie project heralding back to the olden days is a vibrant feather in the cap for me. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298479961 Enter Chipmonk!, a spiritual successor of that primordial game with a, in my humble opinion, far superior theme and setting. This time around you play as a trio of more or less nourished chipmunks seeking bloody vengeance upon the dastardly gray squirrel who have laid claim to the land's food stores. The game is more or less what you would expect from a rodent take on Golden Axe and hacking and slashing your way through rats, beavers and hedgehogs on your way to great justice feels strangely cathartic. The game is quite hard in single player with lots of enemies swarming your position constantly turning a brisk woodland swashbuckling into a hectic frenzy of dodging and weaving. Personally, I would love to see more difficult settings, or at least add more continues to the main game as I found myself grinding through the first few levels a bit too much to my liking in the end. On the other hand, the game is almost perfect for those jolly couch co-op moments when you and a companion can go nuts on the woodland oppressors.. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298054440 In the end this is a hearty recommendation, and best of all, you get to play as a crew of anthropomorphic animals! Any game where I can escape the drudgery of playing as a boring human is already a winner in my codex. 3,5 y.o. niece was totally delighted, now asks for *the badger game* every time. 10/10 convenient options to educate your toddler about small rodent population of the nearest park.
Do you like Golden Axe? If so, you should check this game out. It plays almost exactly like it, and the enemies all react almost the same way too. Even the areas and music have a Golden Axe feel to it too which is awesome...and you can fall into pits and knock enemies down there too! There's 2 different scenarios- classic and revengence, the latter bringing new levels altogether. Both versions play nearly identical, although revengence has 1ups in levels while classic does not. Even the map that pops up right before a level from Golden Axe (2 I think), are here in the revengence mode which is cool. Classic mode has new game+ as well, not sure about the other. I only wish they would add some more options to the options menu, like set number of lives and health, similar to what the Golden Axe games had. Maybe even introduce multiple difficulty modes for more casual players. Yes, this game is tough in traditional Golden Axe style and gameplay, but like that game it can be cheap at times. Also it would be cool if you could save progress and resume later. Some of the achievements are excessively grindy. With the recent 2.0 version they added some stuff in like screenshake intensity (praise Jebus!!!) so there's a good possibility they may add some more stuff later. Too bad we can't replace the abysmal Golden Axe III with this game in it's place though.
Clearly inspired by classic beat 'em ups, Chipmonk somehow manages to solely take the worst parts of those games whilst carrying other none of what made them fun, resulting in one of the most unremarkable, boring beat 'em up experiences you can possibly get. The game was clearly made with love, but that doesn't save it from being utterly mind-numbing.
Introducing a striking clone of Golden Axe, an old retro favorite I wasted countless hours playing in my youth. In this re-imagined version, the warriors are chipmunks on a mission to save the forest inhabitants from starvation. Now they must defeat the evil grey squirrels that swiped all the lesser animal's food supplies. Each of the three playable characters has their unique abilities and vulnerabilities. Those of you who loved the Golden Axe series is sure to have a blast in this recreation of the classic game. You will find the game is quite similar in play-style to the original. With multiple game modes as well, shared/split-screen, or play with any Steam friend via the Remote Play feature on Steam. Are you prepared for the battle that lay ahead? You can always call in a wingman if it gets too rough. Released on Nov 20, 2019, by the developer Niemi Bros Entertainment & self-published, it is tagged Indie, Action, Retro, Beat' em up, Pixel Graphics. I have added Casual to the mix. It features three play modes with one or two-player gameplay. Plenty of enemies and boss fights to hone your skills on. Three playable characters to play and master. Local leaderboards to place your initials in the high scores. Special powers and moves to kick some squirrel tail. Local play, as well as Steam remote play, adds to the re-playability of the title. Partial Controller Support (tested with Xbox 360 & Steam Controllers without issue). What a blast we have had so far! I did start my first couple hours in single-player mode before jumping into testing out the Steam Remote Play feature (which worked excellently). Once we started it coop, I am afraid I have not gotten back to playing alone (my wife played it with me coop :D). It brought memories flooding back of my glory days playing Golden Axe and other similar titles. It is fairly easy to pick up the moves and enemy attacks. Looking for a fair-priced retro action game? You’re sure to enjoy this classic re-imagined. The only thing I didn't like was the sound control; you can’t adjust the volume, you can only turn it on or off. Achievement Hunters will want to note that multiple playthroughs will be required to 100% the title. Это очень качественный Golden Axe. Если вам нравится картинка - берите игру, не пожалеете. Перед игрой обязательно почитайте управление - имеются хитрые приёмы, например атака назад.
