After about an hour of playtime I've gathered my first impressions, overall I like the game but I do have some issues I want to bring up. First up, the good parts: The core idea of the game with the grafting system is great, concept is well thought out and executed The game is challenging, and I mean that in a good way Sound design is overall very good and clean, proper mixing, satisfying sfx, etc The thematic is great so far, and monster design, while simple, is well done Controls feel responsive, there wasn't any obtuse wind ups or recovery animations and chaining attacks together back to back felt nice Now on to a few nitpicks, these are things that while they didn't really affect my opinion of the game too much they did bother me a little: Firstly, the music is great, but the boss music in particular feels like it's way too short of a loop, it actually caught me off guard that I noticed the song ending and starting so soon into a fight, I feel like an easy way to fix this would be to add in the little instrumental flourishes heard in the out of combat music to fill the empty space additionally I really wish it was possible to use the right stick to adjust the aim of attacks, having to flick the left stick back towards whatever you're trying to hit while strafing attacks or kiting with ranged arms just feels awkward, didn't ruin the experience for me, but I just feel like it's weird that that isn't a function since the right stick on controller goes completely unused otherwise Now on to the part of the review I don't want to write, the bad, I hate bringing up negatives about the first game a group ever releases, especially an indie title, but I feel that it's necessary to give my full honest opinion on the game, bad included. To start with a minor issue, enemies that move to the bottom of the screen in most rooms simply cannot be seen properly, while I never encountered this issue with a boss it was a frequent issue with major enemies, especially the gecko as it purposefully runs away from the player making it difficult to get it to leave the corner so you can properly fight it. I feel like this could be fixed by just not having a wall on the bottom quadrant of a room like a lot of other isometric games tend to do, or at the very least fully highlighting an enemy that's behind a wall so that you can at least recognize the silhouette of attack animations and for my major gripe with the game, hitboxes of attacks and enemies simply do not feel like they line up with the models or animations. Using any melee attack just felt like a coin toss on whether it would connect or not, rather than me being able to obviously tell that I just missed, this problem is present even when right up in an enemy's face, and is especially bad with minor enemies, meaning I tended to actually end up losing more parts and health to them than major enemies or bosses, it got so bad during my first run that during my 2nd run I exclusively used aoe and ranged abilities simply because they actually hit every time the animation connected, I honestly think the achievement for completing the game without grafting any limbs is going to be difficult moreso because of the fact that the only range you can hit anything at is the range that seems to be least consistent with attacks actually connecting Overall I probably will continue to play the game, and will definitely recommend it to people interested in something like this, but I do really hope the hitbox issue gets fixed with an update somewhere down the line

A very interesting idea, the concept of a chimera with all sorts of things growing on itself =) However, from the design side, the game often hits the nail on the head. The commentator below has already drawn attention to the dashes, doors, bones - I will not repeat this. Bugs - present: 1. Boss. I caught the same bug 3 times on Scolopendra, the first boss - the character loses the ability to interact with the outside world in any way, freezes in his idle pose, although he is able to move. But it is not possible to take loot from the boss. The only option is to go out the door and be left without loot and happiness in life; 2. Combat. Blows often do not hit the character, nor the enemy. It is quite possible that the colliders are working crookedly, or the isometric camera is "sideways"; Next: Narrative. Timings in dialogues. Developer, do you really think that it's worth loading the player with long, unskippable dialogues, while hoping that the player will appreciate the jokes in these dialogues? Especially, how expensively and for how long you sell "Jerry", Ancestral Archives, as a mega-ideological feature. Don't do that, give the player a choice - to skip dialogues or try to share your humor with you. Timings again. They are ragged, in combat, in the feeling of the character. The character gets up unforgivably slowly after defeat, resurrecting again in the cell, the first time - understandable, but every time watching something like this - it breaks the rhythm. Compare your resurrection timing with similar ones in Dead Cells, Hades. Timings and cooldowns of skills again - they break the dynamics of the game, it would be nice to add them. Author, I sincerely wish you to bring your brainchild to a masterpiece. You're cool, you're great, try harder, please!
As a part of the dev team, thank you all for checking our game out. We will work hard on fixing and ironing out some issues, thank you for your patience! I love this game.
Good mix of difficultly and fun experience. Tons of different ways to build your character. Each boss, mini boss, and small creature is a new puzzle to solve. Haven't finished the game, but will finish later.
I really enjoyed playing this game; it gets frustrating at times but it never feels like its impossible to beat. The rooms are random so its fun to get lucky after constantly being unlucky, the bosses are fun to fight, the raven is funny and your best pal, the different limbs you can get with the different variations are so random and wonky looking that it makes it more fun to play around. Overall 10/10, will definitely keep playing to try to 100% the achievements~
Plays beautifully on Steam Deck with no tweaks to settings. Minor release bugs but nothing detrimental to playability or fun. This rogue-like is the love child of The Binding of Isaac and Hades. Death is permanent and each level is different. Picking up randomized monster parts changes your overall look and gives you different abilities and strengths making each run completely different from the last and the next. Chimera has that "one more run" factor in it and the different abilities per round makes every round unique to itself. It's hard, but that's part od the fun.im enjoying the game and would recommend if you like roguelikes, Hades, Binding of Isaac etc.
Gecko arms OP. game is good btw.
Game is really fun, enjoying the gameplay loop. Fun mechanics, good build diversity. Short and sweet just like this review. People are complaining about the traps, figure it out, its a big rectangle its not that hard. Bosses are fun, music is bumpin. Some bugs, too be expected, some achievements were not working, but now they are. Cool. I haven't really kept up with the story aside from Mi Bone Room. Its kinda like risk of rain builds but not 5 hours long. So I can still have a job and a family while playing the game. Cool. I decided to buy this instead of a McCrispy, and I dont think i can eat a McCrispy for 10 hours so money well spent. Anyways off to Mi own Bone Room.
