This is the second game I’ve played on Steam. It’s my first time buying it myself, and it was a great choice! I’m amazed at how much content there is. It’s going to take quite a while to experience all the stories. I couldn’t skip the first playthrough, but skipping was available from the second playthrough onward. The game has some hilarious moments just when you start to get bored, which is a nice touch. There are occasional sound issues, but as long as you keep an eye on the subtitles, it doesn’t affect the gameplay. I hope to see more games in this genre released in the future.

Played through already, very fun plot and choices to make, but there are soo many endings and certain scenes cannot be skipped on replays so it becomes super tedious to explore new endings, please please PLEASE, allow us to skip !!
Chicken Game is an FMV-based interactive narrative that builds its entire identity around an unusual blend of romance, competition, and psychological tension. Developed by Lee Dae Young, it places the player in the role of an ordinary delivery worker suddenly thrust into a reality-style dating scenario where relationships are not just emotional but transactional, tied to the promise of a large cash reward. The premise is deliberately strange, almost satirical, and it immediately sets the tone for a game that constantly shifts between humor, drama, and uneasy suspense. The story follows Baro, a socially unremarkable protagonist who finds himself among a group of contestants competing to form couples. At first, the setup feels like a standard dating show parody, with conversations, rivalries, and attempts at connection driving the experience. However, the narrative gradually introduces a darker edge through the titular “chicken game,” a high-risk final challenge that forces participants to make decisions with real consequences. This dual structure—lighthearted social interaction paired with underlying danger—creates a tension that carries through much of the experience, even if the balance between tones is not always consistent. As an FMV title, gameplay is centered almost entirely around player choice. You guide Baro through conversations and key decisions, shaping how other characters perceive him and determining which narrative path the story follows. The branching structure is one of the game’s most compelling aspects, offering multiple routes and endings that encourage replayability. Each playthrough can reveal new interactions or perspectives, and the sense that your decisions influence the outcome adds a layer of engagement that keeps the experience from feeling entirely passive. However, the depth of these choices can be uneven, with some decisions having a clear impact while others feel less meaningful. The characters are the core of the experience, and the game invests heavily in their interactions. Each contestant is designed with a distinct personality, creating a social dynamic that drives much of the narrative. Some characters are more fully realized, with clearer motivations and emotional arcs, while others remain closer to familiar archetypes. Because the story is divided across multiple routes, not every character receives equal development, which can make certain playthroughs feel more complete than others. Baro himself functions largely as a player avatar, which allows for flexibility in choice but also limits his presence as a fully defined character. The use of live-action footage is central to the game’s presentation. Performances vary in quality, with some scenes feeling natural and engaging while others come across as stiff or uneven. This inconsistency affects immersion, as the effectiveness of each moment depends heavily on how convincingly it is delivered. Visually, the game is straightforward, focusing on clarity rather than cinematic ambition. It does not attempt to elevate its presentation beyond the requirements of the FMV format, which keeps it functional but prevents it from standing out. Pacing is one of the more noticeable challenges. The branching narrative means that each route unfolds at a different speed, and not all of them feel equally well-developed. Some storylines build gradually and provide satisfying conclusions, while others feel abrupt or incomplete. This unevenness can make the overall experience feel fragmented, as the quality of each playthrough depends heavily on the choices made. The game’s relatively short length also contributes to this, as certain arcs do not have enough time to fully explore their ideas. Thematically, Chicken Game touches on concepts such as social pressure, self-worth, and the intersection of relationships and material gain. The idea of competing for both love and money introduces an underlying tension that gives the narrative its unique edge. However, these themes are often implied rather than deeply explored, serving more as a backdrop for the branching scenarios than as fully developed ideas. The game’s tone shifts frequently, sometimes moving from comedic to serious without fully bridging the gap, which can make it difficult to fully engage with its more dramatic moments. Despite its inconsistencies, the game’s structure provides a degree of replay value. The variety of endings and character interactions encourages experimentation, and players who enjoy uncovering different narrative paths may find it rewarding to revisit the story multiple times. However, the limited interactivity and reliance on similar dialogue sequences can make repeated playthroughs feel less engaging over time. Ultimately, Chicken Game is an experience driven by its concept rather than its execution. It offers an unusual and sometimes intriguing take on interactive storytelling, combining elements of dating simulation and psychological drama in a way that feels distinct, even if it is not always cohesive. Its strengths lie in its premise and branching structure, while its weaknesses stem from uneven writing, inconsistent pacing, and limited gameplay depth. It is best suited for players who enjoy FMV narratives and are willing to overlook its rough edges in favor of its experimental nature. Rating: 7/10
