About
Smash treasure chests and overwhelm enemies with a shower of items!
Chest Buster is an incremental/idle combat game where you fight by destroying only treasure chests. Instead of hitting enemies directly, smash the chests in front of you. Items dropped from destroyed chests immediately boost your power without any inventory management. The higher the chest level, the more powerful the items that drop!
Upgrade your skills for explosive destructive power!
Use coins earned in battle to unlock new destructive weapons from the skill tree to smash chests more efficiently. Upgrades not only increase attack speed and power but also increase the number of chests, allowing you to gain even more loot. These skills and weapons are permanently retained even if you fall in battle, making you stronger with every repetition!
Aim for massive rewards with card flips and slot machines!
It's not just pure luck. It's a strategic system where you upgrade your skill tree to directly control your reward probabilities. Acquire explosively dropping loot and gain overwhelming firepower!
Eliminate enemies forever!
Completing the mission permanently removes that enemy and grants you permanent rewards!
Give traits to chests and create your own unique build!
Research various trait runes and combine them with chests to gain even more massive destructive power.
Arrange the runes to match your preferred style and complete your own build with optimal efficiency!

J'ai passer un bon moment.
Idle & Incremental Lovers warmly recommends Chest Buster: Absolutely fantastic game design, so many clever and creative ideas, and so well implemented. Perfect pacing, five hours of pure fun with amazing mechanics. Also, plot twist after plot twist after... + The concept of smashing chests as the main game mechanic is so fun. I knew it just by watching the trailer, I was like WHY DID NO ONE HAVE THIS IDEA BEFORE? + Gambling is one of the most fun gaming mechanics (as long are there isn't real money involved, damn you, not-so-F2P sharks!). So why not give the players resources through picking random cards or activating kind of a "slot machine"? Yep, that's a great idea too, and IT'S IN DA GAME. + Permanently removing enemies is such a great feature, allowing the player to shorten the runs by skipping the easiest enemies. Using this creative feature to reward the player with chests containing perks (and unlocked with keys, a ressource you collect during your runs) is pure genius. EINSTEIN LEVEL OF GENIUS. + IIRC, the ending sequence is like Totally surprising (no it's totally not) plot twist into conventionnal plot twist into "always click on continue even if the game is over" plot twist into "I'll never trust this dev again when he tells me it's over" plot twist into "beat the game 3 more times to be really sure there's nothing more" plot twist. - Note to the dev: there is a minor bug where you sometimes can't upgrade your skills+ unless you quit and relaunch the game. This is late game and should be easily fixed, but it may discourage some players if they think it's completely broken. ***What do you call a picture of a chest? A treasured moment.*** Found this review helpful?
Fini en 5h, la fin est "épique"!
Chest Buster is one of those indie games that takes a bizarre concept and turns it into something unexpectedly addictive. Developed and published by D-Pad, the game centers around an idea that sounds almost comedic at first: smashing treasure chests to save the world. Instead of traditional dungeon crawling or monster hunting, players spend their time destroying an endless stream of chests that dispense weapons, upgrades, and abilities in real time. It is a refreshing twist on the idle and incremental genre, delivering a gameplay loop that feels both familiar and distinct. The simplicity of its premise is matched by a surprising amount of depth, making it easy to lose track of time while chasing increasingly powerful builds. The progression system is where Chest Buster shines brightest. Every chest destroyed contributes to a steady climb in power, with stronger chests yielding better rewards and unlocking new opportunities for experimentation. The game removes much of the downtime commonly found in loot-based experiences by automatically applying many of the rewards directly to the player. This creates a satisfying rhythm where every action immediately contributes to greater efficiency. Whether increasing attack speed, unlocking devastating weapons, or enhancing passive abilities, the sense of advancement remains constant throughout the experience. Even failed runs feel worthwhile thanks to permanent upgrades that ensure players are always moving forward. Another standout feature is the game's emphasis on customization. Players are given access to skill trees, trait runes, and several systems that influence how treasure chests behave. Rather than relying solely on luck, Chest Buster encourages players to shape their preferred playstyle. Some builds focus on overwhelming damage output, while others prioritize resource generation or long-term survivability. The inclusion of card flips and slot-inspired mechanics adds an element of unpredictability, but the ability to improve reward odds through progression helps maintain a balance between randomness and strategy. This combination gives the game more replay value than its modest presentation initially suggests. Visually, Chest Buster embraces a colorful pixel-art style that complements its arcade-like gameplay. Effects become increasingly chaotic as players accumulate upgrades, filling the screen with explosions, projectiles, and a constant stream of rewards. Despite the growing visual clutter, the interface remains easy to understand, which is an important achievement for a game built around exponential progression. The soundtrack and audio effects are simple yet effective, providing enough energy to support the gameplay without becoming distracting during longer sessions. The game's world and objectives provide enough structure to keep players engaged beyond simply chasing larger numbers. Missions reward players with permanent benefits, and defeating enemy encounters gradually removes threats from the world. At the center of the narrative is the mysterious Abyss Chest, an enigmatic force tied to the fate of the world. While the story takes a backseat to the mechanics, it serves its purpose by giving players a reason to continue advancing through the game's many systems. It is not an experience driven by cinematic storytelling, but it does enough to create a sense of progression and accomplishment. That said, Chest Buster is still an incremental game at its core, and that comes with certain limitations. Players who prefer highly active gameplay or substantial narrative content may find its repetitive nature difficult to overlook. Much of the enjoyment comes from optimizing builds and watching numbers climb, which can become monotonous for those outside the genre's target audience. The game's relatively small scope is also apparent, though its focused design prevents it from overstaying its welcome. Ultimately, Chest Buster succeeds by understanding exactly what it wants to be. It delivers a polished and entertaining incremental experience that transforms treasure chests into the centerpiece of an addictive gameplay loop. Its blend of permanent progression, meaningful customization, and satisfying visual feedback makes it a worthwhile addition to the growing catalog of indie idle games. While it may not reinvent the genre entirely, it proves that a clever idea executed well can still leave a lasting impression. Rating: 7/10
