Good game to practice not putting pieces en prise. Once I realised you can mark the squares red I sailed through with the 3 lives intact. Good addition for a chess library practice tool.
Chess Valley 2, developed and published by Artur Rezende, is a puzzle game that reimagines the classic game of chess through a labyrinthine lens. Released on June 22, 2021, it serves as a sequel to the original Chess Valley, expanding upon its predecessor's concept by introducing larger boards and additional strategic elements. The game's premise is simple yet engaging: players control a king navigating a board filled with enemy pieces, aiming to reach the opposite side to join his army. The gameplay in Chess Valley 2 is centered around maneuvering the king across a grid-like board, avoiding enemy pieces and utilizing strategic planning to mark safe paths. The introduction of larger boards—double the size of the original—adds complexity and depth to the puzzles. A notable feature is the ability to mark squares on the board, designating areas to avoid or paths to follow, which enhances the strategic aspect of the game. The controls are straightforward, with movement handled via the WASD keys, camera adjustments using the 'C' key, and path marking through left-clicking, making the game accessible to players of all skill levels. Visually, the game adopts a minimalist aesthetic, focusing on clarity and functionality. The chessboard is presented in a grid format, with enemy pieces represented by simple icons, ensuring that the gameplay remains the focal point. While the graphics are not elaborate, they effectively serve the game's purpose, providing a clean and distraction-free environment for puzzle-solving. Chess Valley 2 offers a single-player experience with 50 levels, each designed to challenge the player's strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. As the game progresses, the puzzles become increasingly intricate, requiring more thoughtful planning and foresight. The inclusion of Steam Achievements adds an extra layer of motivation for players to complete levels and explore different strategies. The game's reception has been generally positive, with a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam based on 18 user reviews. Players have praised the game for its innovative take on chess and its engaging puzzle mechanics. However, some have noted that the simplicity of the graphics and the repetitive nature of the puzzles may not appeal to everyone. Despite these critiques, Chess Valley 2 has found an audience appreciative of its unique approach to chess-based puzzles. In conclusion, Chess Valley 2 offers a refreshing twist on traditional chess, combining elements of puzzle-solving with strategic planning. Its straightforward controls, minimalist design, and challenging puzzles make it an appealing choice for fans of logic games and those seeking a cerebral gaming experience. While it may not boast advanced graphics or complex narratives, its focus on gameplay ensures that it delivers an engaging and satisfying experience for players looking to test their strategic thinking skills. Rating: 7/10
A great virtual chess game.
I bought this after playing Chess Valley (1) because I liked it. This version is way too similar and the mark options are in my opinion an unnecessary feature as the goal is in fact to finish the game as fast as possible. I restarted at level 5 because I made a mistake - yes, you can make more but I have issues :) - and I got the same level until the very end. I even think I continued from that level number. But no complaining here. At least I got all achievements very fast. So, it was yes for the first version, a no for this one.
10/10 good game. anyone who says this game is bad has a skill issue.
I mean, it's interesting. I didn't really enjoy it though. I think it's a polish issue.
