"Champi" is an engaging and quirky tower defense game that stands out with its unique theme of defending a village from mutated mushrooms. As an early access title, it already offers a solid foundation with a variety of towers, enemies, and passives. Players will need to strategically place turrets, upgrade them, and fend off waves of enemies, all while managing resources and progress through the game. The visuals are charming, and the mechanics, while simple, have a lot of depth. The game offers a level of strategy and flexibility, especially with the ability to upgrade towers and unlock new ones after each round. It also features a rewarding progression system where each successful run grants permanent upgrades, giving players a sense of growth and improving performance over time. However, as with most early access games, there are a few things to be desired. The lack of a tutorial makes it difficult for new players to understand the game’s mechanics, and there are some balancing issues. For example, while the early game can feel quite difficult, it becomes much easier once you accumulate some upgrades, making the experience feel less challenging later on. This can lead to a sense of diminishing difficulty over time. Additionally, with only one map available, the content is quite limited, and players may feel the need for more variety and challenges as they progress. The game has great potential, especially with the developer's plans to add more maps and refine balance. Some players have suggested additional features like random enemy waves or more strategic choices for tower upgrades, which could further enhance the gameplay. A more informative catalog or encyclopedia for towers and enemies could also help players strategize better, especially when experimenting with different setups. In conclusion, "Champi" is a fun and promising tower defense game with room for improvement. Its quirky theme and solid core gameplay make it a fun experience, but it could benefit from additional polish, especially in terms of difficulty scaling and player guidance. If you enjoy tower defense games and want to support an indie developer, this is a title worth checking out, especially as it evolves with future updates.
Champi is a very interesting title, it has much potential, and works fairly well as an early access game. If I had to give some feedback to the developer, 1 The tutorial needs a little work, it's very easy to die on the first level because you don't have a very good idea of what to do. 2 A better way to see what towers and enemies do, as once again is unclear without experimentation, I would recommend a catalog or encyclopedia that shows traits strategy tips, etc. And this would obviously not show towers that have not been unlocked and enemies not yet encountered, and could introduce lore information for world building (optional) 3 Maybe alternate upgrade options for towers? 4 New/ future levels will need to be balanced around the upgrades the player will no doubt have accumulated, but not by simply more enemies and health = harder, but in a way that challenges skill, perhaps by new enemy types and map mechanics. Overall, a fun tower defense title with a lot of potential, and I wish the developers luck in making this the best it can be P.S. don't over-scope
First level extremely fun, but it hasn't had an update for anything past that for a long time. With all the upgrades and stuff, that work should've been put into making levels.
This is a tower defense game. Being in early access, it would be expected to have little content, but there is almost nothing here. Furthermore, there seems to be no proper difficulty scaling. The game starts off really hard on the first 1-3 attempts, but after getting permanent upgrades in between attempts, the game gets easier and easier. The game is trivial once you get even a few of the shop upgrades. I recommend building more levels. I see that they are planned, but there should be a stage that is easier to introduce the game because I died on the first wave on my first attempt because I did not know to wait until enemies appear to place my first turrets. Also, if you ever make more games, you should wait until there is more content before releasing even this early access.
Really enjoyed this! Turns our fungi arent fun guys!
