Going to play through this game today if anyone cares to watch :) https://www.twitch.tv/hurricane_bain
I had great fun exploring the wondrous world of Gandria. The change between fighting, solving puzzles and amusing dialogues keeps you entertained throughout the whole game. Even though the fighting system is in the beginning a bit monotone it will get quite challenging the further you progress. Graphics have a vintage touch, you kinda feel like playing a game from the 00s Overall I'd give it a 8/10 regarding the rather low price ;) Have fun playing mates!

Cendric, developed and published by Ironbell, is an indie adventure that aims to blend several classic gameplay styles into a single, cohesive experience. At its heart, it combines platforming, light RPG mechanics, puzzle-solving, and exploration, all wrapped in a pixel-art fantasy world. It’s a game that clearly draws inspiration from older genre staples, but rather than strictly imitating them, it experiments with structure and perspective to create something that feels familiar yet slightly unconventional. The story follows a young protagonist who awakens without memories and begins a journey through the land of Admantris in search of answers. The narrative unfolds gradually, relying on interactions with various characters and discoveries made throughout the world. While the plot leans on recognizable fantasy themes—mystery, identity, and hidden powers—it maintains enough intrigue to keep players engaged. Dialogue and world-building elements provide context without overwhelming the gameplay, allowing exploration to remain the central focus. One of the game’s most defining features is its dual-perspective design. Cendric alternates between side-scrolling platforming segments and top-down exploration, with each perspective emphasizing different aspects of gameplay. The side-scrolling sections focus on timing, movement, and environmental hazards, requiring careful navigation and precision. In contrast, the top-down view shifts attention toward combat, interaction, and broader exploration. This constant change in perspective helps keep the experience varied, though it can occasionally feel uneven when transitioning between the two styles. The magic system plays a central role in tying the game’s mechanics together. Spells are not just tools for combat but are also essential for solving puzzles and progressing through the environment. Players can learn and upgrade different abilities, each offering new ways to interact with the world. This integration encourages experimentation, as many obstacles can be approached in multiple ways depending on the spells you’ve developed. Over time, the system expands, giving players a greater sense of control and flexibility in how they tackle challenges. Exploration is supported by a wide range of side content, including optional quests, guild interactions, and a reputation system that adds a light layer of RPG depth. The world feels populated and active, with numerous characters offering tasks and dialogue that contribute to the overall experience. While these systems are not deeply complex, they add enough variety to make exploration feel rewarding and give players reasons to stray from the main path. Despite its strengths, Cendric is not without its flaws. The blending of multiple gameplay styles, while ambitious, sometimes results in inconsistencies in quality and pacing. Platforming sections can be particularly demanding, with moments that feel more frustrating than challenging, especially when precision is required and controls are not perfectly responsive. Similarly, certain puzzles may lack clarity, leading to trial-and-error solutions that interrupt the flow of the game. Visually, the game adopts a clean pixel-art style that emphasizes readability and charm over intricate detail. The environments are varied enough to maintain interest, and the overall presentation supports the game’s tone effectively. The soundtrack complements the experience with subtle, atmospheric tracks that enhance exploration without becoming distracting. While the visuals are not groundbreaking, they create a cohesive and approachable aesthetic. The game’s pacing is generally well-balanced, offering a moderate-length adventure that includes both main story progression and optional content. It provides enough time to develop its systems and mechanics without becoming overly drawn out. Replayability is present but limited, as most of the experience remains consistent across playthroughs, though different approaches to spells and exploration can add some variation. Ultimately, Cendric is a game that succeeds through its ambition and willingness to experiment. It brings together multiple gameplay elements in a way that feels fresh, even if not every aspect is fully polished. For players who enjoy exploration, puzzle-solving, and a mix of mechanics, it offers a rewarding experience with moments of genuine creativity. While it occasionally struggles with balance and refinement, its charm and variety make it a worthwhile journey. Rating: 8/10
I really like the game, it's a very fun nostalgia RPG/platform game. But the killer feature is IMO the fact that it's in Swiss German. It's just sooooo funny to see werewolves talking in Swiss German.
Surprisingly fun and complex. Such a big surprise! Edit many more hours into it, in fact close to the end: I am hooked! Perfect blend of a 2D platformer with RPG with emphasis on RPG. Don't let the simple graphics fool you: all visuals are hand-crafted with care and there is a really well designed gameplay underneath. Recommended!
