Doesn't make me motion sick, unlike a lot of these first-person organising games. Nice and calm and relaxing like the library, good controls and UI. My newest obsession to complete fast :)

Okay, so this game... I enjoy the clean the "fill in the blank" type of games, so this one is just one of those, but it isn't... I don't now. I thought it would be okay since it was just another one of the same, but there are enough bottles that look the same that it makes it a pain to have to sort through them, and I can't count how many times I put the wrong type of bottle on a shelf because every category has the same basic names... You have a bottle of Rust & Oak, in most games I would pick up the bottle and know, "Oh, this goes on second floor, Shelving unit H, shelf 4" not with this game, because Rust & Oak is in over half the categories which means they are spread everywhere. Bottles flash when they are put in the right place, if you are even paying attention, but when the last bottle is placed the entire shelf doesn't flash, major loss of dopamine there. These games are fun and all, if you like this type of game, but... this one, it feels flat. From the poor color choices to the way too similar bottles, to the way too simple and practically useless maps (They tell you what floor you need and he symbol, then you search for it, not that that is a big deal since the floors are about the size of a linen closet,) to the lack of being able to carry more than 10 bottles at once... not that it matters, and here is why: The Library game, you have a stack of 15 books, and it is showing you the top book so that you can sort them by sight if you choose... This game? You are looking at the bottom 3 bottles of the stack, and you have to try to look up to see the top bottle, which is pointless since at that height they all look the same, so you end up just reading the list of bottle names in the upper corner and putting them away that way, instead of glancing at the bottle and knowing, oh this is a Merlot on this section over here... I ran through the game in a couple hours without using any "Abilities" and I even left the game running while I drove to the store and came home to cook dinner, and still finished it in under 8 hours. There are only about 2,400 bottles to put away. I want to see one of these games that has 10's of thousands of items laying around, that take days to put away... Something that is so massive that it makes your head hurt just looking at the mess before you. And don't mention the supermarket game with 9,999 items, that was a mess of a game too, but I will get to that review later... As for this game, if you truly love these clean up the mess games, give it a go, try to get it on sale if you can to make it a better value, but play some of the others first, because this one is a sad game to start with. I mean, is it a clean up game, yes, is it well executed, not really, does it get repetitive as you see the same names for different items over and over and over, definitely, is it kind of a let down compared to other games like this style, sadly, yes. I was actually excited when I saw this game pop up, bought it without even looking into it because it just looked so good... yeah... It's mediocre, playable, but... don't expect it to be too memorable
I recently got into these sorting games after the librian game. This is pretty much the same but with wine bottles. One big inconvience for me personally.... I'm Red- Green colourblind so i have difficulty spotting the winebottles. In the librian game you can clearly see the differnce between books, In this one however allot of the wine bottles look the same. I wish the bottles had a more unqiue look to them so its easier to identify them. Other then that complaint i enyoyed my time with it. FIrst playtrough cost me like 5 hours.
Librarian shelving slop. 10/10 more please
This game is directly inspired by Librarian: Tidy up the Arcane Library, and it's basically a reimplementation of the same concept in a different setting. It's absolutely not a "ripoff" any more than all the Nodebuster-like games are ripoffs of Nodebuster. It's just that a very successful game that absolutely nails a niche is going to have other games following the same path. For those of us that love the cozy-tidying-organizing concept, this is a very good thing! For me, Cellar Keeper absolutely scratches that same itch. It nails the atmosphere and brings a high level of visual polish, and imparts that gradual sense of "I can tell at a glance exactly where this goes but I can't really articulate how I know that". That said, there are some pacing and polish issues that I think the dev can and should improve: 1. Power 3 (highlighting matching bottles) and Power 5 (summoning matching bottles) dwarf the other three in utility. This needs some rebalancing. 2. Power 1 is broken; it sorts by bottle number first and _then_ by name, so you get X1, Y1, X2, Y2, X3, etc, which prevents you from rapidly placing X1-3. As a result, I almost never use power 1. 3. The maps are rendered in a different orientation than the room, so reading them is very unintuitive. They both need to be rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise in order to match the orientation of the room - would make them vastly more readable. 4. The overall pacing feels very different / slower than Librarian. Part of this is because it takes a long time to upgrade power 3 and 5 to max, and the relative uselessness of powers 1, 2, and 4. Part of it is because your movement speed is slow. Part of it is because you never develop the intuition about where a bottle will go, unless you're working on that specific shelf, because there doesn't seem to be any natural groupings of the shelves. In Librarian, I knew that the Archery shelf was across from the Swordfighting shelf, and that two camps were humorously opposed to each other. I don't have any corresponding intuition here that varietal X is going to be near varietal Y for reason Z, and there's too many varietals to memorize the locations of all of them without those contextual relationships. 5. The symbols above the bookshelves are an interesting idea, but I don't think it really works long term. I'd like to see some mechanism by which the symbols magically get swapped out for the names after a certain percentage shelf completion. ---- Ultimately, I enjoy this game a lot, and I think it's a great homage to Librarian. I hope and expect to see many other games follow in Librarian's footsteps, bringing their own ideas and tweaks to the formula.
Bought this thinking it would be fun and NOT have GenAI like Tidy Up! Librarian did. Went to finally play today on twitch for my viewers, noticed discrepancies in the branding on the wine bottles (I have a bachelors in Graphic Design, I do pick up on these problems easily). But later on noticed too that the illustrations on the bottles seemed too GenAI. Did further investigating to see the dev admitted to using GenAI for the art and for "translating". I will not support AI slop games. This needs to be flagged on steam as also being made with GenAI.
Cellar Keeper is a winecellar organising game and while people think its a rip off of The Librarian , they forgot to mention they love the game...and its also just another way to play the same lovely game...instead of books its bottles ! I just hope more of these types of games come out. Its addictive and fascinatingly simple
