CAYNE is a fairly short but memorable sci-fi horror adventure with excellent atmosphere, grotesque art design, and strong audio work. Its biggest strengths are the creepy worldbuilding and disturbing body-horror, which make exploration genuinely unsettling. The story is intriguing enough to carry the experience, especially for fans of classic point & click adventures. The main downside is the puzzle design; some solutions feel unnecessarily obscure (classic examples of 'moon logic'), and the slow pacing can become frustrating. I think my first playthrough took me around 4-5 hours, but mostly because I suck at point & click puzzle games. There's a nice guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=859847510 that I used for my second playthrough, and it helped speed up the game, but I'd still recommend playing it blindly first. Overall, it's a stylish and disturbing indie horror adventure that’s worth playing if you enjoy old-school point & click games, especially since it’s free.
I'm simply amazed why the devs didn't put any price tag on this game. They really put in some hardwork into this ! It is gore, strange and has a very old school sci fi first alien movie vibe. I'm really digging the audio fvx, the PDA and other little things really remind me of those 80s sci fi movies, in the best of ways. Puzzles are pretty intelligent but I must also point out that some are down right crazy to figure out. The logic behind some of them are... I don't have the words. Reading a guide seems necessary at some point. That really is the main and only grudge I have here. But other than that, amazing short and free (This is really nuts) little gem. I had a blast discovering the story and the real MADNESS of the writters behind this scenario. Oh, and was Ridley Scott recruited for the intro cinematic ? Really well done. Congrats to "The Brotherood". Mysterious guy(Cayne) deserve and Oscar Emmy Acting award for catfishing me and Hadley deserve better fate. Overall very gloomy and dystopia Storyline but i love it not every single character is likeable in this facillities.

The intro took away my wish to continue the game. no thanks.
The point at which you combine protein powder with an ID card to magically trace the outline of a circuit breaker (please someone make it make sense) is when I noped out. Combining random objects to yield a nonsensical outcome isn't clever. It wasn't clever when Lucas Arts popularized it in the 90's, and it isn't clever now. It's the sign the devs aren't clever enough to design intelligent, rational puzzles and should try a different genre. Or, you know, hire someone who knows what they're doing. The best part of a free game isn't that it's free, it's that when it sucks this hard I can remove it from my inventory and never look at it again.
In CAYNE, pregnancy's the spookiest it's been since Alien in a horror/sci-fi story. The narrative is a bit silly in places and therefore is less impactful than STASIS (let alone Bone Totem), but it's a good take on gross body horror. If you liked the original game or Bone Totem, give this one a try too.
