Caveman Caravan

Caveman Caravan is a cute puzzle strategy game. You draw a random assortment of tiles, each of which have fixed values of three resource types, and place them on a grid. You try to meet a minimum score each round, and between rounds, you can choose a new tile to add to your collection and convert one tile into a tool with a special effect. Both are represented by a member of your caveman caravan, all of whom hang out at the bottom of your screen. Fitting your tiles on the grid is a simple puzzle game, but managing your resources and responding to hazards add an interesting depth to it. I've had no problem reading any in-game text and I enjoy the graphics and sound. It's sometimes difficult on a full board to tell some of the tiles apart, but you can always highlight them to get a text description of a tile and its resources/effects. Overall a very fun and chill game!

Disclaimer I am friends with the person that made this game. However overall Caveman Caravan is a game I very much so enjoyed, and ill be looking forward to 100%ing it. Runs are very quick and get to the point, and info in the game on how things work is largely available ingame with some exceptions. Games like this can be hard to recommend, given everyone has different likes and dislikes for roguelikes. However the low entry costs makes Caveman Caravan something I can recommend.

Overall I like the game and I do recommend it. It's well worth the price. What does $4.99 get you these days? About two and a half tacos. This is well worth two and a half tacos. Essentially, you need to place your blocks next to the provided blocks in a way that they generate points, which are divided into three groups. You need a minimum score in each point group to advance. The gameplay moves very quickly and you don't need to spend a lot of time on each round/screen. It feels like something between a mobile game and a vintage arcade game, or a trick-taking card game where each round is like a hand or cards. The tutorial dumps a lot of text at you and I'm not sure I fully understand all the mechanics yet. I learned more just jumping into the game, I think. The game is pretty intuitive if you're familiar with puzzle games, but there's some surprises with the more deep mechanics. I'm still not sure how to use all the tools effectively, but it wouldn't be much of a game without any kind of challenge. I like the graphic style, but I like to scale down the window using the provided setting to take advantage of the dithering effects which look way too chunky at max size on my display. Maybe that's just me. I had some issues running the game when I first got it, but it seems like it was my graphics card settings that caused it so I'm not holding this against the developer. I love this game, why? The gameplay while it appears simple has alot of depth. I found myself thinking of risk managment, economy, ordering and much more. The music and sounds are satisfying and remind me of the games i played in my youth. The pixelated visuals similarly offer a blast of nostalgia. Finally, the caveman theme appeals to me personally. All in all it's a great game to play on your free time or when you wish to hone your mind a little bit.

We love the cavemen and we love when they caravan!! This game is very easy to pick up and play and has great cozy vibes. I strongly recommend picking this up. I'm looking forward to playing it more!!

This roguelike is an excellent one. There's lots of variety of items, synergies, and interesting tile events to augment the gameplay loop and even secret unlockables to be uncovered instead of paid for. Feels just like a satisfying old computer game you can boot up and play any time!

This game is capable of turning you into a caveman. Just some weird, overcomplicated Tetris.
