put in trashh!
Seems like a endless runner. Three powers to use - magnet, rocket jump and shield. Collect as many gems while double jumping with coaster filled with bizarre worms like creatures. Pick new passengers to increase hit points. Not the best tbh.
Cave Coaster has you moving on a mine cart collecting gems and dodging obstacles. You can slow down or speed up the coaster, but you can't stop it from moving. Rails end abruptly requiring you to drop off or jump off to the next available rail. However, on the rails will be bombs, wood blocks, or more that can hurt you or kill you. You can collect miners which adds lives to your cart. Hitting obstacles will take away a miner, but falling off the map or hitting a bomb will kill all three lives in one time. As the level (sectors) progress the levels get progressively harder with lighting changes, more types of obstacles, and it seems that sectors get longer too as you progress. In the beginning of each level, you are reminded of your goals. Obtaining a certain amount of gems, using a certain number of rope swings per run, reaching certain sectors in a single run, and more. These goals help you acquire gems. Once you reach 500 gems, you automatically obtain a special relic artifact that can be used to revive your cart if you lose all three miners or to purchase upgrades to your cart or special purchases which seem to do nothing more than just allow you to collect. The cart upgrades are rocket, shield, and magent. The magnet collect all gems within a certain radius, and shield allows you to burst through obstacles unscathed. I never used the rocket, so not sure what it does. Overall, the game is definitely a mobile game. It is simple, graphics are simple but work, and the gameplay doesn't ever get more complicated. Do I recommend this? Yes and no. On sale, why not. At $5 wait for a sale. It provides a minimum amount of entertainment.
Cave Coaster is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam. And yes, it's not a PC game, it's a crap mobile app that's been dumped here as a cash grab. Like all endless/autorunners, you're moving and you can't stop. All you can do is avoid the obstacles coming at you in this incredibly shallow shovelware mobile app. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The mobile app features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the mobile app is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Cave Coaster has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the mobile app absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for clearing the first tutorial level, trivial to achieve, but less than 9 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the mobile app. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this mobile app was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the mobile app. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 9 percent of players bothered playing the mobile app for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this mobile app to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother to played the mobile app? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this mobile app for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the mobile app just has a couple of players every week running up the mobile app and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many mobile apps like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Cave Coaster has the insane price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
You loved the Donkey Kong Country mine cart levels and wanted more. Unfortunately, the physics are busted in this inspired creation. You'll clip through tracks, vines, anything that can help you while the obstacles work perfectly fine at hurting you. The achievements aren't too hard to 100%, but know you'll probably rage quit before you get the 1500 gems in one run...which is semi-broken and doesn't consistently activate.
