Reviews
Catsploration is a game where it's possible to make your own fun you just need to try a little and you will see the years of development squeezed into a couple of hours of gameplay. I recommend buying this game if you enjoy character creation and selecting stats that may not be relevant in this game but can be ported to your next cat based pathfinder session. There is an adventure to be had here for those who can enjoy a technically competent but directionless game
Love the narrator voice acting. The parkour is cute and fun! The writing is good enough to keep you progressing and the environments are pretty and well designed. Definitely worth checking out at the price! https://youtu.be/6kX7QFdchxM
A short adventure that mimics an RPG with stats, quests, and inventory, but none of it matters, since you’re just an ordinary cat sent on a quest. The game opens with what appears to be a detailed character creation menu. It lets you assign stats, pick skills, and even choose a profession, with options like noble or herbalist. However, this setup is ultimately a playful joke, because you’re actually playing as a cat. None of these selections influence gameplay in any way. The only meaningful customization comes from picking your cat’s pattern and name, but even that’s limited, since there are just two available skins to choose from. Despite initially presenting itself as an action-RPG, the game is much closer to an adventure platformer. The core mechanic revolves around jumping, which is your main ability and the one you’ll rely on throughout the game. There’s also a “sit” command, which on its own doesn’t serve any real purpose. However, it becomes necessary when you want to execute a high jump. You can use it either from a stationary position, to leap straight upward, or while moving, which functions more like a running jump. You can still view your “character sheet” from the beginning and even perform claw attacks, but combat plays no role. Your claws are only useful for breaking pots, and even then, they don’t contain any rewards. Still, a few small RPG-style features are scattered throughout the game. One example is the journal, where you record quests. You receive these from various characters as you explore, and although dialogue options appear, they’re all variations of “meow.” Sometimes there’s an exclamation point or a small change in tone, but the meaning stays the same. Interestingly, NPCs somehow understand and respond appropriately, yet your dialogue choices never influence outcomes. There’s only a single main quest, with no optional side missions. Another RPG element is your backpack, which serves as your inventory. Inventory management isn’t an issue because you only collect quest-related items. These are automatically equipped when needed, such as a compass that helps you find key characters, exits, and lion statues, the latter functioning as save points. Even so, saving doesn’t matter much, since falling into pits or water simply respawns you nearby. Saving only becomes relevant if you plan to stop playing and exit the game. For those who enjoy exploration, there are coins and money bags hidden across the environments. They give off a faint sparkle, making them easier to spot when you enter a new area. Occasionally, you’ll also find chests containing small collectibles like hoods and cloaks. These don’t alter your appearance or abilities, serving purely as optional extras. Unfortunately, they’re easy to miss. Because stages are traversed in a strictly linear order, missing a collectible means replaying the entire game if you want to gather everything. There should be a counter for each stage to follow such things. The game itself is very short. After leaving your home, you’ll visit a small village, move on to a marketplace and a tower with a platforming sequence, and eventually face a final climbing challenge before returning home. Once your cat curls up for a nap, the adventure ends. Even with full exploration, the experience lasts less than two hours. There are no unlockable skins, bonus levels, or post-game content. For that reason, along with the price, I suggest you wait for a discount.
Meow.
meow (good game)
This review is based on how the game is right now. There are parts of the game that clearly show that the game isn't finished and it gives a lot of potential for RP. The exploration is nice, the story is simple, the different puzzles are easy but nice for chilling. Overall graphics are good (amazing sunset...). Got no glitches, didn't get stuck in walls or textures, just some slight graphics bugs like missing some foliage in bushes for exemple. It has a lot of potential as of right now.
I really enjoyed this game and felt the world was fun to explore. I felt like there was enough content for the price. I enjoyed the exploration and quests. I did find the platforming a bit frustrating but it wasn't so bad that I wanted to give up. It was a fun game that provided several hours of enjoyment.
Bonjour !
