[h1]When you combine a medieval fantasy world with cats and trolls XD[/h1] [h2]Introduction[/h2] [i]Cats vs Trolls[/i] is a cute, humorous, cat-themed hidden object game developed and published by Sons of Welder and FM Simple Games Studio. It is the developer's latest release. You're thrust into a medieval fantasy world, where you have to rescue cats and help them fight off trolls. XD With the gameplay, the controls are fairly simple. You can choose from either full screen or windowed mode. ([b]Note:[/b] If you choose windowed mode, you'll have to manually resize the game screen to your desired screen resolution since the game has no preset resolution choices.) You can zoom in and out of scenes, and only the first level is unlocked, with the following two levels locked until you complete the previous one. Scrolling the mouse wheel zooms in and out of scenes, and you can hold and drag the mouse to move around the scene. Left click chooses the objects. Cats either appear out in the open or in locked boxes, and with the latter, you'll need to find keys to unlock the boxes. As for trolls, you can find arrows with which you can shoot at the trolls, thus eliminating them. The level indicates how many cats and trolls you have to find, and a hint function is available. Lots of Steam achievements are present, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game". [h2]Review[/h2] I've enjoyed HOGs by Sons of Welder and FM Simple Games Studio for quite a long while now. Of course, when I got a review copy for this latest release, I knew that I had to get around to it when I could. It took a bit longer than I had wanted, but I'm glad that I finally had the time to check out this game. ^^ [i]Cats vs Trolls[/i] follows the same style as the developers' [i]Cats vs Zombies[/i] series, which I highly recommend to check out. The gameplay is pretty much the same, especially with finding the cats. Instead of zombies, trolls are present, and I like how you have to find arrows and shoot them at the zombies to eliminate them. It's very fun, and I like that all the usual functions, such as the hint and zooming ones, are available. If I had to make a slight criticism, I wish that there would be preset screen resolutions for windowed mode. All Steam achievements are obtainable, and there's no timer, so you can take your time finding all those kitties and eliminating the trolls. As for the art, it is as lovely as ever. This latest installment continues with the hand-drawn style, which I like a lot. The backgrounds can appear a bit too much on the yellow side at times, but it's not overly bright. They feel perfect in the scenes they're placed in, and it can feel exciting and exhilarating to listen to them while you're rescuing the cats and getting rid of the trolls. If you're looking for a short, fun cat-themed HOG to play, you're especially a fan of the developers' previous HOGs, and/or you like getting Steam achievements, then this is totally worth checking out. At the asking price, it can feel a bit pricey, but I'm guessing that this may be the case due to the commissioned art. Well, I do believe that artists deserve to be paid fairly for their work. I have recently become a fan of finding hidden cats. It may be more accurate to say that I have become mildly obsessed with finding obscured cats but that is a story for another day… Cats vs. Trolls was the first Sons of Welder game I'd played, and I was delighted by the change in format. Instead of just clicking on cats, you must find arrows to "shoot" trolls and keys to release trapped cats. You do not really shoot trolls. Instead, you need to find an arrow for each troll you take down. As it turns out, the experience is very similar to the Cats vs. Zombies titles (which I have played since discovering this developer). The game includes the prerequisite features that make a hidden object game fun. It autosaves on exit, provides a timed hint option, and allows you to zoom. There are 3 stages to explore. I should note that, as with other Sons of Welder cat titles, Cats vs. Trolls is very short. I finished in well under an hour. I used the hint once in two of the three stages before I realized that this would block two achievements. So, my time involves completing all three stages and then redoing two of them without hints. This put me at 100%. It seems a bit excessive to earn 82 achievements in such a short period of time, but this appears to be the norm for this genre. If you are a fan of hidden object games and are on a quest to rescue all lost kitties, then this game will be just up your alley. Бодрая игрушка на поиск предметов. Смешные локации с сюжетом - было забавно рассматривать котиков и троллей, особенно запомнился тот, что мылся и спинку щеточкой мылил. Понравилось, что искать надо не только котов с троллями, но и ключи со стрелами. Стрелы достаточно хорошо спрятаны и вписаны в окружение. За 25 минут прошли все уровни по два раза - с подсказами и без, получили все ачивки. Если более медитативно проходить, то можно растянуть на час. Или решать по одному уровню за подход. Саундтрек на фоне хороший, но не всегда подходит под происходящее на экране. В целом, не сильно отличается от подобных игр, любителям жанра точно зайдет. You like Hidden Object games? You prefer cats to trolls? this is the game for you! it's a very nice, if short, hidden object game with an understanding of morals. Save the beleaguered catte folk with keys and clicks, punish the ebil trolls with hellfire (well, arrows) and all is well. Works smoothly and super playable, and even makes monochrome object hunting (which I don't normally like much) accessible with simple, easy zoom and crawl features. I appreciate this game and for a dollar or two for and hour or two's fun staring, it's worth it. Also an achievement hunter's dream (hint, you can't use any hints if you wanna 100%!)

I like it, cute artstyle and fun mechanics. Short gameplay, max 15 min. Wouldn't call it "3 huge maps", that is stretch it a bit too far based on other games in the same category on Steam.
