Cats and the City: Shanghai

[H1]A three-minute cat walk that trips over its own paws[/H1] Cats and the City: Shanghai could’ve been a cute little feline hunt through a Chinese cityscape, but instead, it’s more of a three-minute pit stop with a few unfortunate bugs along the way. The Shanghai map itself is adorable, and each zone colors in when completed. There’s no achievement clutter, and you can 100% it almost instantly. Unfortunately, that’s also part of the problem : it’s way too easy. The cats aren’t even hidden, there’s no hint system (not that it’s needed), and the whole game ends before your tea steeps (unless it's a quick 3 minutes herbal tea 😋). The controls don’t help either: the mouse scroll is reversed and can’t be remapped, movements are clunky and limited to mouse only, and fullscreen doesn’t stick despite selecting it. You can’t access options mid-game, and I didn’t hear any real music (for complete transparency, this one could be an issue on my end, but it's still worth noting just in case). Even for a short hidden object game, this one feels rushed and undercooked. Overall, Cats and the City: Shanghai might amuse very young players for a few minutes, but it’s too buggy and barebones to recommend. Although this is very cheap, it takes only a couple of minutes to complete the entire game. Unless you - similarly to me - would like to first ensure you run everything at high resolution and in full screen. For some reason the settings only save if you relaunch the game. Basically, you immediately see the changes you make, but as soon as you hit "play" and start playing, everything defaults to the original setting. You are required to quit and launch the game again. Furthermore, the good-old zoom is reversed (you scroll down to zoom in) which made me believe at first that this feature was non-existent (as you start fully zoomed-out). I had fun with the game, make no mistake, but it is such a barebone product that I simply cannot recommend it as there are many other similar games offering much, much more.

I had to run this 2 minutes longer than necessary because of this review. It is a very very very short game (finished in just 3 minutes) without any replay value. It is not a Hidden Object game, because every cat is clearly visible.

simple game simple achievements. i like how to area color it self after you find the cats. took me under 3 minutes to finish and had to run the game longer to write this review. due to length of game play buy it on sale.

Its fairly simple game. I like how it colors in in small sections when cats are found. There are no hidden cats as they are all out in the open. For the price, it was worth it. Hopefully they'll make another game with more levels.

It is a nice hidden picture game. The artwork is amazing and the colors are vibrant. So beautiful to look at. It is a bit on the short side and I needed to let it run for a bit in order to be able to review it. I did enjoy it and anything that brings joy is worth it. It is less than a dollar

This is a pleasant little hidden object game with a nice art style and easy achievements. However, it’s quite short—I finished it in under 15 minutes and had to leave it running just to write this review. For 1€, the content feels a bit lacking, so I’d only recommend picking it up on sale. If you’re just looking for a quick and easy game to add to your collection, it does the job, but don’t expect much replayability.
