Pastime game, match 3, adventure. PLOT The beautiful pirate Catherine Ragnor befriends Hendrick Van Der Decken, captain of the ship "Flying Dutchman", but unfortunately Henderick has received a nasty curse that forces him to sail the seas without ever being able to dock at any island or port, for the eternity. One day luck makes him meet another pirate who is also a victim of the curse. The two decide to help each other to break this evil spell, and together they set out in search of three legendary treasures hidden in different places of the sea, they must bring them back to their original location a "Treasury", only then can they ask to fulfill one of theirs. desire and break free from this curse. Help Catherine in search of treasures, the road is not easy there are enemies who want to take over the chests too, will you be able to bring "The Flying Dutchman" to the end of her journey? PLAYABILITY Mainly it is based on match 3 puzzle challenges with help to unlock rows of trapped icons, you can use simple cleavers that break a piece, or swords, bombs up to use the cannon to unlock a large square. There are 5 chapters that tell the story. In the game you will find THE UPGRADE where you can restore the islands and return them to their original splendor using the diamonds you collect by completing the match boards. When you want you can access CATHERINE'S SHIP, use your gold bars earned by playing to improve the ship, you can buy, cannons, sails, the Figurehead, and improve the aesthetics. There are various treasures to be found, if you manage to get all the pieces of the map stuck in the board down, after a short fight with the ship with cannon shots at the end you will be rewarded with a nice chest full of bars and diamonds. The music is pleasant to listen to and seems to me suitable for the pirate theme. IN conclusion I must say that I find the Pirates theme nice for a pastime game, nice also the idea of not making the pieces that are matched in match 3 disappear, but simply fall to the ground causing a bouncing ball noise !!! I recommend it, the graphics are well done in cartoon style and overall it is quite smooth in terms of gameplay. Match 3 + modern graphics + ship battle mini-game = Collect diamonds and gold from each map to upgrade ship and island. Find treasure maps and fight other pirates for it. A decent match 3. "Catherine Ragnor and the Legend of the Flying Dutchman" is a mobile app-tier match-3 game, a ripoff of games like Bejewelled/Candy Crush. But that's not the remarkable thing about this. The unethical "developer" behind this, HH-Games, has dumped literally over 100 of these match-3 games, lightly reskinned, onto Steam. What's the point? Why is it good for gamers for there to be hundreds of copy+pasted games all using the same match-3 engine? I'm willing to go so far as to say when "developers" do this for the purpose of cashing in as much as possible on reskins of exactly the same game, this is asset flipping. It doesn't matter if they own the engine (wouldn't be surprised if they don't), copying + pasting it hundreds of times just pollutes Steam. This is harmful to gamers and to the gaming industry. It makes it harder for gamers to find genuinely made games. It makes it harder for genuine amateur developers, who are doing the right thing, to find marketing space and an audience for their games. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Catherine Ragnor and the Legend of the Flying Dutchman" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a small number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. "Catherine Ragnor and the Legend of the Flying Dutchman" has the preposterous price of around $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.
Profile Features Limited!
Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
"Catherine Ragnor and the Legend of the Flying Dutchman" offers an enjoyable and engaging pirate-themed puzzle adventure. The game's captivating storyline, charming graphics, and fitting pirate-themed soundtrack create an immersive experience for players.

Captain van der Decken turned to piracy attacking every ship. One of these ships was the Golden Eye, captained by Catherine Ragnor. The Golden Eye was sunk and Catherine was the sole survivor. Captain van der Decken hears about three treasures when united will grant a person one wish, his chance to be rid of his curse. Along the way the he comes across Catherine and rescues her, bringing her along on his crusade.
Gameplay
Use the tokens on the board to push other tokens off until only one remains. There must be at least one space before and one after to push a token.
The Gallery
While this is a match three game it is different from most match three games as matching additional objects does not grant a reward, such as object that will clear a row or area. This takes some getting used to. Each level you will be given some power ups that are similar to those you would gain by making greater matches. These do not carry over, so there is no reason to conserve them. There are two different goals you will encounter, match pieces with a grey background to collect gold and drop map pieces to the bottom of the row to collect. The gold is used to purchase upgrades to your ship. These upgrades are necessary to win battles to collect treasures. After you collect map pieces you will find the treasure and have to fight another ship. The first battle is a total loss, due to the other ship having full health and you starting at half, but gives you an idea of how the battle works. You have to fire on the other ship accounting for wind direction. Basically half way with no wind and more or less power to account for the wind. If you sink the other ship, or defeat the monster, you get to select one of three "treasures" that will award you gold and diamonds. Diamonds are awarded for level completion and used to purchase access to areas. You normally earn enough diamonds every other level to unlock and area. There are four areas to unlock per chapter. Each time you unlock an area you will get a cut scene to advance the story.
Final Verdict
I recommend this game. The match three variation takes a little bit of getting used to, but you will discover that some power ups are best used early, others to finish. The game isn't horrible, it is a solid match-3 game, but the negatives outweigh the positives. - The story makes no sense, even by the low standard of match-3 games - There is a stupid cannon duel minigame, where you have to click a button at the right time. Hey, if I'd wanted to test my reflexes, I'd have played an ego shooter or an action platformer! - There bonus actions to clear a large number of tiles, but you can't earn them, rather, the game doles out arbitrary actions at each stage, and you can't carry over unused actions to the next stage.
https://youtu.be/K2XkGVJjiug Catherine Ragnor is a minor character in her own game, at least she won't be too disappointed to be left out of this grind heavy match three experience.
It's a basic Match-3 with background tiles you need to break. It has a poor pirate themed story, upgrades that don't do much but are required to proceed, and doesn't work right with an ultrawide display. I had to close the game every time I looked at the ship-upgrades area. Its only saving grace is that it's cheap.
