Unless you are looking to get this for the intended purpose of a child's learning of the solar system and constellation, Or you're looking for a cute way to interact and learn about constellations yourself, I would not recommend this game. I believe I did not look into it thoroughly before getting the game, but I will say the art style and the cute additions of the game are amazing in detail.
Want to play as a cute cat exploring constellations and learning the lore behind them? Want to pet the cat and listen to purrs and meows with tranquil music? Then this game could be for you! I managed to play this game in an hour and a half and completed it entirely. The music is very soothing and the art is very cute. But for such a short play time unless you plan on returning to the game several times I recommend buying it on sale! This would make a good bedtime learning game for kids though or if you just like rereading constellation facts it's great! PS: Stuck on the behind the moon challenge? Can't find a guide on that achievement? Try hovering around the bottom right side of the moon opposite the sun!
I like the history provided here, but it's a little passive/slow for me right now. Nice learning tool, though.
I did not have high expectations for this, and I was still disappointed. I just wanted my kids to be able to fly a little cat around the sky and learn about different planets and constellations. Sadly, though, the experience here is more like moving a character around to different buttons to get information about planets and constellations that are somewhere up there with only the barest indication of where things are in relation to each other. I expected a game with "atlas" in the title to have something more like a map. The solar system model is better than the constellation mode, but it's still not good. You can't zoom out far enough to see more than a couple of objects at once, and there's very little information here. I get that this is supposed to be like a children's book, but I was hoping for a good children's book. It's a struggle even to tell how many planets there are from this, and most planets make no mention of their moons. Then there's a random black hole and the milky way inside the solar system model, just because those things are cool, I guess. The constellation mode is very clunky to navigate, and the information is presented poorly at best. All of the constellations are given generic names, and you have to read the info screen to find what they're actually called. That's fine for "Lion" or "Dog," but Cassiopeia becomes "Seated Queen," which is a bit of an interpretive leap. It's clear the developers' first language is not English. There are some odd but forgivable choices like using the Greek name Ketos instead of the common Latin name Cetus, but then there are just outright mistakes like saying Perseus rescued Andromeda from her "precipitation" (instead of "predicament," I assume). It just makes all of the information somewhat suspect. Absolutely do not pay full price for this. The cat is cute and there is some decent info to read here, but without being able to see very clearly how objects are related to each other spatially, you'd do better to just read a book with whatever level of detail you want or download a free sky map app on your phone. I honestly learned more about the solar system as a kid playing a board game called Solarquest, which is like Monopoly in space. I would have just refunded this if my 5 year old hadn't laughed so much at the fact that the cat looks like she's propelling herself through space by farting stardust.
Very simple charming and cosy game. Explore the sky as a kitten and learn facts about constellations and planets, including how ancient civilisations applied different myths to what they saw in the sky. Aimed at children but even I was a bit charmed by it and loved to find out there is a 'dragon' constellation.
