CAT Interstellar: Recast

The Stage 2 (UE5 Nanite Showcase) is so good. This already worth the price.

[h1] CAT Interstellar: Recast [/h1] [h3] Positives: [/h3] + Good and improved graphics + Nice landscapes + Atmospheric music + DOG control is good + Lift and break ability + All the places that are not in claustrophobic corridors or caves + You play a cat on one level + Exploration is rewarded + Secrets/easter eggs + Acceptable voiceacting + Achievements (that extends gameplay a bit) [h3] Negatives: [/h3] - Hard to hear androids - Awkward cat control - A lot of bugs - Quite unstable with framerate issues - Gets a tad monotonous to explore the same looking corridors and caves in some levels - More aliasing than the original (anti-aliasing dosent help much either) - 60 FPS lock - No menu options for FOV adjuster - Non-working console key out-of-the-box - Slow android walking speed - Very short length (lasts for about 1-1.5 hour) [h3] Conclusion: [/h3] This remaster is actually a tad worse than the original, believe it or not. By all means the graphics has been updated, but it also introduced a whole lot of bugs, fps drops and general instability. And most of the other small changes from the original is also a tad worse than the original release. So if you want to play this game, go and play the first one instead. [h1] Total Score: 6/10 [/h1] [b] How to fix the console key, FOV and 60 FPS lock: [/b] 1. Console Key: Go to the configuration files location. Open "Input.ini". Add the following to the file and save it: [/Script/Engine.InputSettings] ConsoleKey=F1 2. FOV: Open the console with F1 and type FOV # for custom values (f.ex. FOV 120) 3. 60 FPS lock: Open the console with F1 and type t.MaxFPS # for custom values (f.ex. t.MaxFPS 165) (most likely the fps wont go that high, but it gets higher than 60 at least)

It's simple and harmless and fun in a very basic sense... not unlike my dog. This game would be great for young kids 5 ,6, maybe 7.

Totally got my review wrong before. It is annoying there is no save in levels but they are fairly small and look so amazing. Totally recommend this game.

First of all, the developer was kind enough to give me a key to try the game and play with the camera mode. I am very thankful. This fact does not affect my review in any way. So, this is not a exactly a game. It contains some story elements and objectives but it is generally an experimental tech demo of UE5 with cool textures and landscapes. To be fair though, there are some pretty cool ideas thrown into each chapter of the game, with cool places to visit and overall fun and short dialogs. The objectives are a bit dull but serviceable. It can crash unexpectedly, but this is part of the experimental process that the game is going through, and I am sure it will be fixed. If you are into a short experience with cool graphics and want to support a very small, indie team, by all means give the game a try. If you want anything more than that, which you shouldn't considering the price tag, look elsewhere. 5/10 Recommended only for experimental gaming lovers.
