Awesome game, Can`t wait until the next episode.
I played this over the course of a weekend, and had a pretty good time with it. The humour was enjoyable for me, it combines absurdity, physical humour, some meta observations and pop culture references to good effect. The soundtrack is pretty great too and often adds to the lighthearted tone of the game.
gooooooooooooooooooood
Castle of the Underdogs: Episode 1 is ridiculous in the best possible way. Bought it due to the style of the graphics and how absurd it seemed. Wasn’t disappointed at all. The soundtrack slaps, the characters are all charming (and some of them are hilarious), the story is simple and quickly hooks you in. The gameplay is solid and the difficulty setting lets you auto-pilot or struggle through a nightmare depending on your preference. The real shining star though are the characters. Each one I remember the name of because they’re a memorable cast, the dialogue is hilarious but grounded and never feels too over the top or forced. Episode 1 lives up to its name as… episode 1. It’s rather short, and when finishing it there’s the “to be continued in episode 2!” pop up. Which I desperately hope to see soon, because if episode 2 is as good as episode 1 then I’m all about it. Gib more plz thanks.
Is one of the best RPG I have ever played and its curious because I played all Final Fantasy games and similar to it. I expect Episode 2 as soon as possible please!!!
I can't recommend Castle of the Underdogs enough. It's zany in all the right ways- strangely compelling while remaining lighthearted and difficult to put down. It teases a Suikoden-like premise, introducing a number of quirky characters, some of which can be added to your party along the way, the remainder slowly settling into your ruins of a castle with the promise of shops, armories and even puzzle mini-games. Hikaru, the main character, makes for a relatively chaotic protagonist, but never quite crosses into the territory of annoying, making her perspective rather enjoyable to play. Of the cast of characters we meet, I find myself particularly partial to "Spoiler Joe", a young man in a turquoise zip-up who boldly introduces himself as someone whose friends hate him. CotU also features a creative "corb" system- somewhere between Suikoden's rune system and the Final Fantasy VII's materia- allowing you to create corbs of specific spells or skills and then transfer them to new party members. There is a lot of depth to explore here and it promises for incredible flexibility in team building and strategy. This appears to be incredibly useful in the game's engaging battle system, where turn order and resistances are both incredibly important. The *only* downside is that you can finish Chapter 1, including most side content, within around 8-10 hours. If you're a perfectionist, there are completion goals where you can spend more time. The story leaves you at a pretty significant cliffhanger- I found myself really excited for what is to come, only for the chapter to end. There is a "new game plus" like mode where you can run around to collect any items, monster guide information or recruits you have missed, but with the game still being only in its opening hours, it can be a little jarring to grind to a screeching halt just when the story is really speeding up. It blows my mind that CotU is a solo dev project. I played through Chapter 1 twice on Switch, and am now ready to play through again on Steam. Please support this game and give it a try. I really truly hope this story continues.
This game is the funniest game I've ever played. I love this series.
Amusing short romp.
Very fun, short RPG. Jokes and references are around every corner. A little short, but it more than made up for it in comedy and entertainment value. Bosses were fun to figure out their gimmick and random encounters weren't just about hitting the "attack" button. Really excited for part 2.
Забавная, немного безумная рпг. Пока только первый эпизод, поэтому не очень длинная. Боевая система неплохая, с помощью местных корбов (чтото типо материй из фф7) можно по разному кастомизировать отряд. Прошел с удовольствием.
