It's a good game, but it's very buggy and some of the mechanics are either poorly explained (if explained at all) or just plain broken.
I really hope that Moon Moose follows up with a sequel to Cartel Tycoon. There's a lot the game gets right. The art is excellent, the various capos and gang members are fun and the cartel hierarchy is an interesting concept. However the core gameplay loop just isn't very fun. The game is a resource management/supply chain management simulator at its heart and while these type of games are literally about moving A and B to C so you can make D and combine that with E and so on - this aspect of Cartel Tycoon is just more tedious than anything and never really works smoothly. It quickly devolves into a mess of inscrutable connections between farms, warehouses, "transport companies", etc and you essentially can never have a "perfect" balance of these things. Which would be fine, that could be part of the game, but the way things end up breaking seems arbitrary. For instance, the trucks that pick up and deliver items from your warehouses and onto the next step in the supply chain have to literally go pick up, bring back to the warehouse, then leave again to deliver items to the next building. And you're watching this going.... OK can we just deliver to the next building directly? OR why not have trucks picking up and trucks delivering at the same time? Even better - If warehouses could facilitate direct deliveries along the supply chain, and only actively store items when a backlog occurred, I think the game would feel a lot more fluid. As it stands you spend an inordinate amount of time trying to optimize things before basically giving up. The various story campaigns of the game also feel very samey. You're on the same map (one additional was added with the DLC) and the game essentially cheats to provide a challenge - the police, etc, will spawn out of nowhere even when they shouldn't based on the current "terror level". Also the various dialogues you need to slog through just end up becoming a chore. Every conversation with another character is this long winded affair that is maybe fun the first time - but these conversations repeat, often. I think the devs maybe focused so much on the "flavor" of the game, the themes etc, that they neglected that games actually need a fun gameplay loop at their heart. Cartel Tycoon is *almost* there.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Dead game, keep your money. I had such high hopes this would be a fun game. This could have been such a fantastic tycoon game with a cool setting, however, it is an unfun micromanaging mess with little to no explanation to what any of the icons mean. "Hey! Your building has an icon over it that needs to be dealt with." "What needs to be done?" silence If there were any tool tips whatsoever, I don't think I would be so harsh. Don't buy this even on sale, there are much better tycoon games out there.
Heavily overpriced with how little game play or content in general there is and how simple the game is. If you hypothetically paid 10% of the price, you might not regret the purchase even if you didn't like it.
Fun but dev studio got shut down so no more updates :(
It's fun in short bursts. The longer I've played in a scenario the more bugs, limitations and lack of final polish became apparent. There is a lot of quality of life options missing, and transporting goods becomes a pain after a while. It would be lovely if there would be more updates. I've spent most of my play time when the game was still in early access. It sometimes still feels like it's unfinished.
This game inspired me to create my own narcotics trade in real life just like my best mate Pablo! Update: I got arrested, cops are no fun :(
Salu2
