Car Mechanic Simulator 2014

I kind of started playing this on a whim because it was sitting in my library and I wanted something requiring low attention and focus to chip away at in between meetings at work. I have a background in working on cars, as it was my previous career and I am an enthusiast car owner, so this should appeal to me in a very big way but it kind of was just.... okay and oddly disappointing for the type of game I should have no expectations for. The word "simulator" is used incredibly loosely here, nothing in this game is how cars actually work. Like at all. They didn't even get removing wheels right. You never have an impact in the game, always use ratchets, but remove wheel lugs while the car is on stands.... it feels like the kind of thing where this was made by people who have never actually worked on cars. And yet, I still enjoyed my time because it did exactly what I needed it to do, be a zero stress, satisfying game to fill the time. I would almost describe this as more of a puzzle game, because the act of actually removing, installing and repairing parts quite literally could not be more straight forward, you literally just point and click. The overwhelming majority of the game is spent doing diagnosis, which, fair, this is basically how it is in real life too. At the same time however, I was never quite able to shake the thought that I am playing something labelled "Car Mechanic Simulator" and just removed an axle in 2 seconds by ratcheting 1 singular bolt. Oh how I wish that was how cars actually worked..... The tunes on the shop radio are lowkey bangers though, I'm pretty sure they are just royalty free tracks but they had me jammin'.

Man merkt, dass das Spiel alt ist. Mit 2 Monitoren bei mir leider nicht spielbar. Sobald ich meine Maus zu weit nach Rechts mache, ist mein Mauszeiger plötzlich beim anderen Monitor. 1 Mal Links oder Rechtsklick drücken, bam das Spiel ist minimiert. So macht das leider alles außer Spaß.. Schade.

Hey, it's that game they change slightly and rerelease every few years! The main problems with this version (which is the first CMS) is that the mouse is set to move the camera faster than should ever be possible by default. And once you've turned it down to 1; which is still slightly too fast; you discover the game does not keep the cursor in the game, so you constantly click outside and the game minimises. It is actually unplayable if you have more than one monitor, completing ONE order was a chore. I actually tried to play this game in 2015 and gave up without finishing the first order. The framerate is also choppy... but hey, you know that if you've played any CMS game.

Хорошая и размеренная игра с единственной неточностью - как будто бы не всегда правильно составлены и написаны задания в основной карьере, в остальном все супер. Игра по сути своей простая за исключением дополнения 1/4 мили, там не получится под пивом пройти, а придется немного потренироваться.

Review by family member: For the 2014 Car Mechanic Simulator the graphics and game quality were nicely made, especially the car internals. The model quality was detailed down to the little bolts that you had to remove. I think the game's tutorial was kinda basic and vague, but I figured out how to play pretty quicky. This game was very fun and entertaining for the first 10 or so repair jobs, but then the game became repetitive, mainly because there wasn't enough variety in the cars themselves - there where only about 4 or 5 different car models that I found in my 16 repairs. The jobs were very fun to complete though, because the types of jobs where very diverse, with a different part or test every job. But once again, the game started becoming a bit repetitive after about 10 jobs. One thing I disliked was how I wasn't able to fully disassemble the cars, just the main components. I also didn't like how there were only an inline 4 engine and a v6 engine. I would have loved this game if it had more customization to the jobs, like replacing the whole engine instead of just the cylinder heads and intakes, and if there where more types of engines, like i3, i5, i6, v8, and even v10 engine types along with more diversity with the cars themselves. All in all, I enjoyed repairing the detailed cars in this game but would like to see more diversity in those cars, I would rate this game a solid 7/10.
