A great old-school JRPG type game. The visuals and audio is really great. Gameplay mechanics are a bit difficult to get used to, but it's easy once you get the hang of it. The difficulty is accurately scaled with your performance. There is a wide variety of NPCs with dialogue that can give you a small chuckle and it feels like the NPCs have actual character. Overall this is a really fun game to pass some time with.
I TRIED SO HARD TO PLAY THIS GAME. I'm all for giving little indie titles a try, and I'm willing to forgive a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That being said, I was never able to get past the tutorial. I experienced no less than 5 bugs that locked me into the tutorial. Each one required I alt+f4 and restart a whole new character. I'd love to have been able to experience this title for all of its indie charm and hackiness, and then leave a review based on that, but all I have to go on is the confusing UI that doesn't let you quit to the main menu, the incredibly finnicky combat system I barely got to see through the janky tutorial, the fact that the start menu says "press confirm" but doesn't tell you what button that is, and then the character slot selected that immediately follows it requires you to click on it, because pressing Q (the confirm button) will just rename that character slot. Dear dev- Test your ♥♥♥♥ more before you put it up for sale. Like I get that YOU tested your tutorial and found no bugs, but thats because you knew what you were supposed to do. Test. With. Players. A Lot. I was able to lock my game four times by doing mundane ♥♥♥♥. If I can lock my game by talking to people in the same room out of order, or by pressing escape to look at the type chart during the tutorial, or by pressing confirm/cancel in an attempt to skip the opening cutscene when I've been forced to restart the game for the third time, you know you haven't actually had your ♥♥♥♥ tested.
its alright multi player would be cool
While there seems like there is a cool game here I found it unplayable and hard to get into despite the tutorial. The game literally broke in the tutorial where I wasn't able to progress through it and the 'menu' isn't a menu, its a type chart sheet, which is useful, but not in terms of a menu to quit to try to restart to get around this bug. Also the game has you build a deck before it even teaches you how to play and it was not comfortable having to make decisions on things I don't know about. Why not just give me a starter deck from the get go and let me build from there? There also is hardly any sound which makes it very hard to stay engaged, this is one of the most silent games I've ever played and every action and event should have a sound to go with it. A lot of the UI is hard to read as well with many of the type icons either looking too similar to each other or blending in with the UI background making it difficult to read. It's not clear when a player or computer's turn is over either. Its also unclear why exactly certain things are happening on the board and from what cards they are happening from. There is a lot of information to keep in your head at any given time and the game really doesn't try to help you at all which is a shame as it seemed fun. Since I couldn't get past the tutorial due to a game breaking bug I decided to refund it. I hope this can be improved and fixed in the future.
The core gameplay loop is interesting and the creature collecting is fun. The UI can be a little clunky but once you get used to it it's pretty fun!
