About
Call of the Golden Valley is a thrilling true crime-like mystery game with an immersive narrative set in a charming but eerie Australian country town.
You play as Danielle, an American tourist travelling to an old town in the Australian countryside to visit her friend Marisa. Upon arrival, you discover that Marisa is not only nowhere to be found, but that she’s actually one of the many people who have recently vanished without a trace from this seemingly harmless small country town.
In order to save your friend, you must search the internet for clues, solve mysterious puzzles and uncover the conspiracy behind the vanishing hikers of Golden Valley.
Piece together the story by solving compelling puzzles, deciphering clues contained within objects you find and conversing with the quirky townsfolk of a small country town in the Australian outback.
Use your deduction board to connect the dots between the evidence you’ve gathered through searching the in-game internet and by exploring the local environment.
Discover all of this seemingly innocent country town’s secrets and solve the mystery of Golden Valley’s vanishing hikers before it’s too late to save your friend’s life.
Call of the Golden Valley takes most players between 5 and 10 hours to complete.

This was an easy day one purchase for me. As a fan of the Nancy Drew mystery series I am always looking for games to scratch that first-person mystery itch and Call of the Golden Valley has not disappointed! I have not completed the game yet, but I'm enjoying it immensely. Really hoping there will be more games in this series! As others have said, the voice acting is phenomenal and makes the story very immersive. 5/5!
Charming mystery that absolutely nails the Aussie setting, from the flora and fauna to the characters who felt endearing in their own quirky, unmistakably local way. The central mystery is really clever and I've never have seen anything like the unique online sleuthing puzzles. Easy recommendation for mystery fans.
Loved this game! It had a mystery that was fun to solve and left me wondering what happened to Marisa. It reminds me of old school Nancy Drew and I love that about it! For sure worth playing!
Really enjoyed the game! The location was so much fun especially with the animals and weather creating an active environment. Coming from someone who has been a mystery game/Nancy Drew game fanatic for 25 years, this game scratches that itch. Of course as with any new game there were the occasional bug but nothing too serious. Couple things I would personally love to see but if remained the same I would still play and enjoy any future games are the controls, more detailed character design, and some more snooping :} For the controls, I would love if it was possible to use a controller instead of mouse and keyboard. As for more detailed character design I just mostly mean their mouths moving when they speak. And the more snooping i think speaks for itself. Always love a good sneaking around where i shouldn't be type thing in a game. Overall wonderful game, lots of fun, and excited to see any future games from this team! Also super appreciate how involved the developers are with keeping up with bugs and staying in the discussions tabs! Keep up the good work!!
I appreciate most of this game had going for it but I was left with a feeling of "Oh. Is that it?" towards the climax. It does teach you the valuable lesson that the police are unable/unwilling to help you, regardless of where in the world you are.
Definitely has some rough edges but the Aussie authenticity, great sound design, varied gameplay and original story really makes for a compelling game.
A fun mystery in a gorgeous rural Aussie setting! I enjoyed piecing the story together -- the puzzles weren't too challenging, but I did get stumped a couple of times (in a good way). My favourite part of the game was the strong sense of place; from the backdrop, to the music, to the soundscapes, it felt truly authentic. A great rainy day game!
Fun little detective game. Wish it was a bit longer, but it's an enjoyable 3ish hours
It's sooooo nice to have a game set in Australia, and to see our native critters running around, let alone being part of the puzzles and gameplay. Add to that a mystery which is actually Australian themed? Awesome! Yes, it's a short game, but there are plenty of achievements to find if you missed them the first time around. There are different conversational paths to take, though they'll still lead you to the same conclusion. Honestly, I would've loved it if the game went for another 100 hours, but I don't think my laptop's hard drive would've loved it. The graphics aren't the most sophisticated, but the animals, plants, and landscape are lovingly rendered in true detail. There aren't many people to interact with, and ultimately the game is interrogation and puzzle based, with a bit of exploration as well. If these things interest you, and especially if you miss getting new Nancy Drew games, this game could be for you. The animals are cute, the history is interesting (though the specifics about the poem and its writer are made up), and it's kind of got the Australian gothic thing going on.
Very reminiscent of the old Nancy Drew games. I had a lot of fun playing, took about 4 hours for the whole play through, and I intend to go achievement hunting in the future!
