Ah, yes. Modern Warfare 2. The Michael Bay of Call of Duty Campaigns. What could possibly be said about it that hasn't already been discussed? Perhaps it's best to start with the single-player portion of the game. The campaign, for me personally, holds incredibly well and still has my testosterone levels going up every single time Hans Zimmer's score comes up on the background of an explosion. It's much more over-the-top and bombastic than COD 4 ever was, which says a lot about how campaigns will devolve into later entries, each less inovative and tactical and more action-packed/unrealistic with space combat, jetpacks and robots. Task Force 141 is in full shape here and Shepherd makes for one hell of an antagonist. The sheer number of memorable and quoted missions is too much for the modern Call of Duty fan to comprehend, and the balls on this franchise to include an actual mission where you partake in a terrorist attack... is one for the history books. Veteran is a little more forgiving than the previous entry, but still a headache to get through, particularly the Favela missions. Otherwise, it's pretty doable if you take your time with each encounter. On the spec-ops side of things, AIDS is the best way to describe some of them. There are those that are totally manageable on Veteran, especially solo if you don't have any friends to play with. But stuff like Wet Work, Snatch and Grab, Wardriving and the Juggernaut ones are absolutely brutal to take on by yourself. It's still a fun mode, adding extra content for those who are looking for it. But unless you have someone to accompany your quest to achieve all 69 stars... you will struggle. To wrap it up, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the living example of how prime COD used to look and feel. Something which unfortunately became lost to time and greed. The campaign will forever live rent-free in my head and I will always consider it the best in the series. As for Spec-Ops, it's a fun little mode you can dig into if you're looking for more, but not the most relaxing time you'll have, that's for sure. P.S: Don't forget to buy it ONLY if it's on sale. There isn't a single COD that is worth the full price nowadays, especially with how hacker-infested the multiplayer is.
