About
Cairn’s realistic simulation allows intuitive climbing: find the best holds and place your hands and feet seamlessly with simple controls. Adapt your posture, effort and balance —if you're not careful, you will fall!
As pro climber Aava, you embark on the ascent of Mount Kami, a summit that has never been reached. Along the journey, meet unexpected companions and hear from those left on the ground. Discover the mountain's history and decide what Aava is willing to sacrifice to achieve her dream.
You are free to climb anywhere. Explore the mountain, read the rock face from the ground and plan your route carefully to reach the top. Solve problems while on the wall to navigate difficult sections. You can climb on anything, so choose your path wisely!
Climbing is challenging: each wall feels like a boss fight. A thrilling challenge for those eager to test themselves, but you can also adjust the difficulty to customise your experience.
Manage your resources to survive during the long ascent: pitons, chalk, finger tape... but also food, water and medicine. Set up bivouacs and explore the mountain to find resources to reach the summit.
An unforgettable experience from the makers of Furi and Haven, with music and sound design by the team behind Limbo, Inside, Control and Cocoon, and art and story by renowned comic-book artist Mathieu Bablet.

I literally just finished the game and here's my thoughts. Never has a game moved me like this one has. It can be so frustrating yet so wonderful. I had to quit a few times through out my play through because it would get frustrating to complete a climb but wow, is it worth it. Exploring the mountain and the story on it was such a lovely experience. The ending is *chefs kiss*. Had me misty eyed... I did it, I freaking did it. Embrace the story and play for the ending. Hands down, one of the greatest games that I have ever played. It's worth every penny and then some. Wow, just wow. Man, wow.
This is hands down the best indie game I have ever played, and it easily takes my top spot for games made in 2026. You ever start playing a game or watching a movie/TV show and get that immediate feeling that it is going to be a special experience? This is what I personally felt with this game. You don't even need to be into rock climbing to enjoy this game (although it certainly helps). With how stale gaming has grown in recent years, this is certainly a breath of fresh air. The presentation is simplistic at first but once you get past the tutorial, it throws you completely off with the beautiful art design and almost otherworldly OST that just hooks and reels you in. I have completed this game twice (once on normal, the other on 'free solo' difficulty) and even loading it up to explore everything the world has to offer on normal, i still find myself floored and getting goose-bumps from the intro. It has one goal: Start at the bottom, climb to the top. Uninterrupted. No sudden time skips or cutscenes that bring you higher up onto the mountain. While there is a story here to be told (and a surprisingly emotionally packed one at that), it does not get in the way of your overall gameplay experience. It enhances it. The climbing mechanic of this game feels natural 9/10, choosing which limb has the least support and prioritising your character to move that limb. And even when the automated limb selection feels janky, you can always opt to manually select which limbs you move thanks to just how accessible this game is. There is no greater satisfaction than almost losing your grip, and managing to put your foot/hand into a hold to keep yourself on that rock. I almost forgot to mention just how much replayability this game has. You do not have to take the same route every time, and there are even people playing this game who are still discovering new routes they can take up the mountain. I seriously cannot recommend this game enough. It may be a little pricey, but with the amount of replayability this game has, and the surprisingly deep themes that this game has to share. There is only so much that I can share without dropping spoilers on this game. So stop reading other peoples opinions, and go give this game a try for yourself! The Mountain is Calling. Will you answer?

Great Climbing game but has a few issues. The climbing is solid and fun. The visual and sounds are great but could use optimization in some areas. An option for more background music would be nice. The story and characters are simple but not bad. Good voice acting. The Inventory system is interesting and different but kind of annoying sometimes. Not being able to use the Pitons as hands and foot holds is dumb. There will be times when your climbing and you will have solid footing and hand holds but Aava will still shake and want to fall. Skill issue or bug idk. There is a point in the game that force you to drink most your liquids. The reason for this is dumb story wise when only a few sips would be enough, but it also spits in the players face telling you wasted your time and effort collecting it and saving it for a harder part of the game.
Climbing against an active avalanche is one of the dumbest things I've seen in a game.
A Mount Everest Expedition expansion with an oxygen mechanic could be cool for this game. The Climbot can melt snow into oxygen at camp and fill your bottles.
This has to be one of the most frustrating and infuriating games I have EVER played. Any progress takes SO long, save points are so far apart, the game tells you you should allow it to auto select your limbs for you (when choosing which limb to move next) but that's a terrible idea, you really have to select the limbs yourself and that process is infuriating too. You'd think pointing the stick to the bottom left when you're selecting your limb would select your left foot, but you'd be wrong. There are times when it feels like you're playing Baby Steps - the smallest little ledge becomes a challenge as Aava puts both feet behind her head and one hand into her ass while you're trying to pull yourself up onto something slightly above chest height. That being said I'm still into it, the story, art, atmosphere is exceptional, but the point I'm at now forces me to quit after an hour or so because it just makes me too angry. Every single mistake is punished BRUTALLY and even when not actually dying I just end up eating like 3 full meals on the side of a rock face and still starving within a day. Not the relaxing, zen experience I was hoping for. So I guess "constantly enraged but unable to stop playing" sums it up for me. *edit: I hate this game, still constantly enraged but I am gonna stop playing, the physics make no sense, you find a perfect place to hang? nope you're falling, you find a place where you're spread eagled across the underside of two rocks? yea that's a totally stable resting spot. Its a constant ragebait cycle of trying to learn what the games wants you to do, which seems to be different every rockface and every time you need to relearn it the game will waste HOURS of your time.
